I'm low-key disappointed in Colossal's de-extinction claims tbh 
They're essentially creating grey wolves with 20 tweaks, but is that really bringing back the dire wolf?
I get it, science is all about progress and pushing boundaries, but can we not hype this up a bit more? The fact that experts are warning against spreading misinformation and undermining trust in science kinda puts a damper on things 
On a more positive note, I do think gene editing has the potential to save species caught in genetic bottlenecks
And let's not forget traditional conservation efforts โ controlling predators, protecting ecosystems and restoring habitats are all still super important! 
But can't we have a nuanced discussion about this too? Maybe Colossal should slow down and focus on what they're really good at: engineering awesome tech 
I mean, the Asian elephant adapted to live at -40C is straight fire
but let's not get ahead of ourselves here
The real question is: have the promises delivered or is it just Silicon Valley showmanship?
