The Top Five Sketches From the Glen Powell-Hosted ‘Saturday Night Live’

Glen Powell's SNL Hosting Debut Ends Up Being One of the Season's Highlights, Says 'I Miss My Ex's Dad' Star Tommy Brennan.

Country music parody "I Miss My Ex’s Dad" became a standout from Saturday Night Live host Glen Powell’s episode this past weekend. The sketch is part of a string of strong comedic bits that highlighted Powell's ability to leave his ego at the door and excel in various roles, which has been praised by critics.

The bit, which features Brennan alongside Ben Marshall and guest star Sarah Sherman, takes familiar country music tropes – all the hats, booze and denim you might expect – and sends them up with a sharp wit. The sketch also features an impressive pre-recorded video that complements its on-air performance.

SNL host Glen Powell is still having a blast as he continues to take on various roles in every sketch. His million-dollar smile and moments where it’s clear he's not holding back also prove him to be quite the natural. He even appears in five sketches, though Weekend Update remains off-limits.

Powell’s episode was notable for referencing Epstein files, which were highlighted during a cold open featuring Ashley Padilla as White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. Trump played by James Austin Johnson took over the podium and used quantum mechanics to defend himself, leading to a hilarious exchange about his own identity across multiple timelines.

Glen Powell is literally stealing SNL this season! 😂 I was so impressed with that country music parody sketch, it's like he was born to roast those dad stereotypes 🤣 and Sarah Sherman totally killed it alongside him. And can we talk about how the pre-recorded video added an extra layer of comedy? Genius! 👏 I love how Glen Powell isn't afraid to poke fun at himself and just have a blast on air, his energy is infectious! 💖 The episode was so well-rounded with multiple strong sketches, I'm already counting down until next time he hosts 🤞.

omg u guys glen powell's saturday night live debut was LITERALLY one of the best episodes of the season!!! i'm dead like "i miss my ex's dad" is EVERYTHING 🤣 and ben marshall is a GENIUS he's always good but this time he killed it! glen powell being his usual charmin self tho... 1 mil smile can do that much 😎 cant wait to see what he does next on the show

I'm not sure why Glen Powell's SNL hosting debut is considered one of the season's highlights... I mean, it was actually pretty meh 🤔. The country music parody was alright, but I didn't find it that funny and it kinda felt like a tired sketch 🙄. On the other hand, I loved how he played with his roles in every sketch - he totally brought his A-game to some of them 😂. And honestly, his million-dollar smile is kinda overrated... I mean, it's just a face, right? 😐. The pre-recorded video was cool though, that added a nice touch 📹. But overall, I'm still not convinced that he's the next big SNL host 🤷‍♂️.

can you believe how SNL is tackling some real issues now? like referencing those Epstein files during the open - it's crazy how much more comfortable we are with discussing that stuff now 🤯 it's not just comedy, but also commentary on our society and politics. glen powell's hosting debut was fire btw

I'm so loving Glen Powell's SNL hosting debut! 🤣 The country music parody "I Miss My Ex's Dad" was literally LOL-ing me 😂. I mean, who wouldn't want to see Tom Brennan and Ben Marshall getting roasted in a sketch? And the video pre-recording added an extra layer of hilarity 💥. Glen Powell's just so natural on camera, it's like he's not trying at all 😉. The fact that he nailed five different sketches without even trying is impressive! And I loved the quantum mechanics bit with Trump... genius 🤓. All in all, a fantastic episode that had me smiling from start to finish 😊

🤣 I was literally dying laughing at that country music parody sketch. Glen Powell totally killed it (pun intended)!! The way he & Tommy Brennan played off each other was perfection 😂. And can we talk about how good the pre-recorded video was? It added this whole new level of ridiculousness to the sketch. I'm not even kidding, I re-watched that part like 5 times just because I wanted more 😆. As for Glen's overall hosting debut, I think he totally won me over with his charm & energy. He seems like a total pro who's just having the time of his life up there 🎉!

Glen Powell is totally killing it on SNL, I love how he's not afraid to poke fun at himself 🤣. That "I Miss My Ex's Dad" parody was pure comedy gold, and the way he nailed those country music tropes was spot on 😂. It's great to see him bringing his A-game every week, even if some sketches are more successful than others. And can we talk about how funny that Epstein files cold open was? The way Trump played by James Austin Johnson took quantum mechanics and ran with it was just genius 🤓. Powell's million-dollar smile is infectious, and it's making his episodes must-watch material for comedy fans 📺.

I'm telling you, Glen Powell's SNL hosting debut was a total disaster 🤦‍♂️... wait, no it wasn't! I mean, I was expecting some cheesy jokes and over-the-top sketching, but what I got was actually really hilarious 😂! He nailed the whole country music parody thing and even managed to poke fun at himself (which is more than I can say for some of his co-stars 🤷‍♂️). But, on the other hand, I'm not a huge fan of the pre-recorded video bits - they always feel a bit forced to me 💔. And what was up with all those sketches? Five in one episode is just too much! Powell's got some serious talent going on, but sometimes less is more, you know? 🤪

OMG, Glen Powell's SNL hosting debut was SO on point 🤩! Did you know that it's been 5 years since an SNL host didn't get their sketch set on fire? 🚒 This guy's got some serious comedic chops, and I'm loving how he doesn't take himself too seriously. 💁‍♂️ On a stats note, this episode had the highest viewership for any country music-themed skit since 2019! 📊 And, fun fact: Glen Powell's SNL sketches have been viewed over 10 MILLION times on YouTube already! 🤯 The sketch with Tommy Brennan and Ben Marshall is literally the most funny thing I've seen all season - stats show it had a 4.2/5 rating on IMDB 📊

I'm loving Glen Powell's energy on SNL 🤣! Reminds me of when Will Ferrell used to host back in the day... I know it sounds old-school, but there's something so refreshing about a host who's just having fun with it, you know? Not like those other hosts who take themselves too seriously. And that country music parody "I Miss My Ex's Dad" is genius! Got me laughing out loud 😂, kinda like when they used to do those silly sketches with Bill Murray and Martin Short on SNL back in the 90s... Anyway, Glen Powell seems like a natural, always keeps it light and leaves you feeling uplifted. Bring back the good old days of SNL 📺

Glen Powell's hosting debut on SNL is defo one of the best this season! 🤣 The country music parody "I Miss My Ex's Dad" was EVERYTHING! 👀 I'm loving how he's not afraid to poke fun at himself and leave his ego behind for the sake of comedy. And that pre-recorded video in the sketch? 🔥 genius! Not to mention, his million-dollar smile has me hooked every time 🤩. It's awesome to see him take on so many different roles and make each one shine. And can we talk about how bold it was to tackle Epstein files during the cold open? 👏 The quantum mechanics twist was pure perfection 😂. I'm excited to see what the rest of the season holds for Powell! 📺

omg what's up with these celebrities getting all hyped for themselves lol like Glen Powell just hosted SNL and now everyone's talking about one little sketch? I mean don't get me wrong, "I Miss My Ex's Dad" was fire but come on, it's not like he broke the internet or something 🤣 I'm more excited to see what other sketchy stuff he can pull off next. And btw, what's with all these celebrity cameos? Can't they just let the host shine for once? 😂

I'm loving the new season of SNL 🤩! Glen Powell's hosting debut was epic, especially that country music parody sketch "I Miss My Ex's Dad" 😂 it had me laughing so hard! I mean, who wouldn't want to see Ben Marshall and Sarah Sherman bring down familiar country music tropes with some sharp wit? 🎸 And can we talk about Glen's natural charm on stage? He's got that million-dollar smile and isn't afraid to let loose – I'm sold! 😆 And the pre-recorded video for the sketch was a genius touch. As for the episode as a whole, it had me hooked from start to finish. The Epstein files reference during the cold open was pretty interesting too... even if it was all in good fun 🤔

I was just thinking, it's crazy how SNL has changed since I started watching 🤯📺. Like, remember when Alec Baldwin did Trump for like 10 years straight? Now we've got Glen Powell and he's doing a great job, but it feels so different from the old days... I mean, have you seen his country music parody "I Miss My Ex's Dad"? It's hilarious! The way he just goes all in and doesn't hold back is really inspiring. And that pre-recorded video they did for the sketch? Genius! But what's up with all these sketches now? They're like a parade of cameos and guest stars... I'm not complaining or anything, but it feels like there are more people on the show than before. Do you think that's just because the show wants to be more inclusive or something?
