SEPTA to start using 10 leased cars next week to boost Regional Rail service

SEPTA Unveils New Regional Rail Schedule, Boosting Service with Leased Cars

Starting next week, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) Regional Rail riders will notice a change in their morning and evening commute. The authority has introduced new schedules on several lines, reflecting the arrival of 10 leased cars from Maryland's MARC system. These additional vehicles are expected to alleviate overcrowding during peak hours.

The Wilmington/Newark line, Trenton line, and Chestnut Hill East line will see entirely new schedules in effect, with increased train frequencies on some routes. The West Trenton and Trenton lines will benefit directly from the new arrivals, as the 10 MARC cars will be integrated into service to ease congestion during rush hours.

While these changes bring a boost to Regional Rail services, SEPTA acknowledges that significant enhancements are still pending. Federally mandated inspections on the aging Silverliner IV fleet have been ongoing since October, following multiple electrical fires raised safety concerns. The repairs are expected to be largely completed, with most of the remaining cars undergoing longer-term maintenance.

SEPTA is planning a comprehensive overhaul of its fleet, estimating that the process could take up to a decade. To accelerate the process, the authority has leveraged funds allocated by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and secured leases from MARC and Montreal's Exo system. As part of this plan, three bus routes – 201, 204, and 206 – will experience slight adjustments to their morning schedules.

New schedules can be viewed online, providing Regional Rail riders with a better understanding of upcoming service changes. With the arrival of these new leased cars, SEPTA aims to enhance its services and alleviate overcrowding on its lines.

I THINK IT'S ABOUT TIME SEPTA GOT ITS ACT TOGETHER! I MEAN, COMING IN WITH THESE 10 NEW LEASED CARS FROM MARC SYSTEM IS A HUGE BOOST. LESS OVERCROWDING ON THE RAILS, YES PLEASE! BUT AT THE SAME TIME, I FEEL LIKE THEY'RE JUST SKIN DEEP - WE NEED THOSE FEDERALLY MANDATED INSPECTIONS AND UPDATES TO REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I MEAN, THREE BUSES ADJUSTED SCHEDULES? THAT'S NICE, BUT IT'S NOT GOING TO MAKE A HUGE IMPACT.

I'm intrigued by SEPTA's efforts to revamp its Regional Rail schedule, which I believe will undoubtedly bring some much-needed relief for commuters navigating the morning and evening rush πŸš‚. While the introduction of leased cars from MARC is a step in the right direction, it's heartening to see that SEPTA acknowledges that more comprehensive upgrades are necessary to address safety concerns 😊.

The planned overhaul of the Silverliner IV fleet is a long-overdue move, given the recent string of electrical fires and resulting inspections 🚨. With funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and secured leases, I'm optimistic about the prospects for SEPTA's fleet renewal efforts πŸ”. It'll be interesting to see how these changes affect overall passenger experience and whether they can indeed alleviate overcrowding on certain lines πŸ‘€

omg just heard about this πŸš‚ and i'm low-key hyped ! 10 new cars from MARC are a huge deal for septa regional rail - it's about time they gave us more options for commuters ! but seriously, how long till those silverliner ivs get fixed up ? my aunt rides that train daily and she's been complaining about the frequency since october . anyway, hope this influx of new cars helps ease congestion and makes our morning commutes a bit less soul-sucking 😴

OMG πŸš‚πŸ’₯ like wut? so they r adding more trains now?? i mean thats gonna be super helpful for people comin from suburbs 2 philly but wut about the other ppl in the city??? dont they deserve some love too?! πŸ˜… and btw, i cant believe they didnt mention it earlier when they were talkin about the marc system thingy... like, how did u guys forget to tell us about those new trains? 🀯

I'm so stoked that they're bringing in more trains to help ease the rush hour chaos πŸš‚πŸ’¨! I live just a few stops away from the Wilmington line and it's literally always packed during peak hours. Fingers crossed these new schedules do bring some relief, especially for us early risers who have to deal with all those crammed trains 😩. It'll be interesting to see how they implement these changes and if it actually reduces congestion...

πŸš‚ I'm so stoked about this news! More trains = less crowded commutes πŸ™Œ. I mean, who doesn't love being able to grab a seat or stand without having to push their way through the crowds? πŸ˜… Those new schedules are gonna be a game-changer for SEPTA riders. And let's be real, it's about time they got some new trains - those Silverliner IVs have been around forever! πŸ™„ On the flip side, I'm all for them doing more to address the safety concerns with those old trains... electrical fires are no joke ⚠️. Fingers crossed those repairs go smoothly and we get even better services soon 🀞

πŸš‚πŸ’¨ omg i just checked the septa website and they updated the train schedule like 5 mins ago!!! so many changes but also yay for more trains i mean who doesn't love that? 🀩 anyway gotta say tho it's kinda cool that septa is trying to upgrade their fleet with new leased cars from marc and others. fingers crossed those safety issues get sorted out ASAP tho πŸ™ the silverliner ivs have been a problem for ages

OMG, like I'm so hyped for this update! 10 new trains are coming in and they're gonna totally change the morning rush hour drama πŸ”₯πŸ’¨ Can't wait to see if it actually makes a difference tho... still gotta wait till next week to test it out 🀞 And what's up with all these changes, is SEPTA just trying to keep us on our toes? Should've seen this coming though, those Silverliner IVs have been giving me the heebie-jeebies for ages 😳

aww man thats so cool πŸš‚πŸ’¨ septa is finally catchin up on them old trains... i feel u, commuting can be such a drag especially when it gets all crowded 😩 but these new leased cars are gonna make a big difference! πŸ‘ lets hope they finish that fleet overhaul soon tho... 10 yrs might seem like a long time but it'll be worth it in the end πŸ’―

OMG, like, SEPTA is all about that rail life now! πŸš‚πŸ˜† They're bringing in new leased cars from Maryland's MARC system and it's gonna be a game-changer for commuters. I mean, who doesn't love an extra train during rush hour? It's like a little present on your morning commute. The Wilmington/Newark line is getting a major facelift, and I'm here for it! πŸ’ͺ But let's be real, SEPTA knows they've got some work to do before their fleet is all shiny and new. I mean, those Silverliner IVs have been having some major electrical fires... talk about a buzzkill! 🚨 Anyway, with the new leases and funding, SEPTA is on track (get it?) to give their Regional Rail services a serious upgrade. Fingers crossed they can get this overhaul done in less than a decade! πŸ‘

πŸš‚ So they're saying the new trains are gonna make things better but I'm not so sure... I mean, how many times can you just add more of the same old thing to solve problems? Don't get me wrong, it's good that SEPTA is trying to address overcrowding issues. But what about the long-term maintenance and repairs on the existing fleet? Like, we know the Silverliner IVs have been having some electrical fire issues... shouldn't we be focusing on fixing those first?

I don’t usually comment but I think this is a good move by SEPTA πŸ™Œ. More trains mean less crowded commute for people in Philly πŸš‚. The fact that they’re introducing new schedules on multiple lines is a big plus, especially with those new cars from MARC system πŸš‹. It’s about time they upgrade their fleet and improve services πŸ‘. Now we just gotta wait and see how it all plays out, fingers crossed everything goes smoothly πŸ’ͺ.

omg can't believe septa is finally doing something about their trains lol they're finally recognizing that more people than ever are using those trains and it's getting crazy! i'm so down for the new schedules though, like who doesn't love a good train schedule? πŸš‚πŸ˜΄ but seriously guys lets be real SEPTA has been neglecting their trains for far too long. these new leased cars better be worth the wait, because as of now those silverliners are literally falling apart πŸ’₯πŸ‘Ž

I'm so hyped for the new rail schedule πŸš‚πŸ‘! I've been commutin' on the Wilmington/Newark line all summer and it's always gettin' crazy packed in the mornings. I think these new leased cars are gonna make a huge difference, especially with the increased train frequencies on some routes. Can't wait to see how this impacts my commute πŸ•’οΈ. One thing tho, I wish they'd put up more info about the changes online before the actual schedule change date. Don't wanna get caught off guard and not know what's goin' down on the trains 😬. Anyway, I'm all for SEPTA makin' these improvements and gettin' our region movin' πŸš—πŸ’¨!

idk about this... more trains means more people will wanna ride during peak hours & it's just gonna be chaos πŸš‚πŸ˜© septa is already struggling w/ maintenance issues & now they're expecting a decade for the overhaul? that's ages! & what's with all these leased cars from other places? are we really building our own fleet or just borrowing from others? πŸ€”

man... i'm so down for more frequent trains πŸš‚πŸ˜Š but at the same time, it's kinda weird they're just introducing new schedules now like they were just sitting around twiddling their thumbs waiting for some leased cars to arrive πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ and what's up with theSilverliner IV fleet still being a thing? those old trains are like something from the dark ages of transportation πŸ˜… anyway, hopefully these changes will help ease congestion and i can finally get on my favorite line without having to wait forever ⏰ but we gotta keep an eye out for that decade-long fleet overhaul, sounds like they're gonna be shelling out a pretty penny πŸ’Έ

omg i just found out about this new septa schedule 😲 is it true they got new trains from another place? πŸ€” like what's a marc system? how does that work? πŸš‚ are they gonna make the train times more reliable now? i used to hate taking the train to work because it was always crowded πŸ™„ do they have any plans to upgrade the old trains too? πŸ€‘

omg u guys i know how frustrating it is when ur train is always packed πŸš‚πŸ˜© but this is good news! septa just brought in 10 new trains from maryland and they're gonna help ease the congestion πŸ™ŒπŸ½ at least for a while tho. but its also kinda weird that theyre saying a major overhaul of their fleet is still pending πŸ€” like what's taking so long?? hopefully it gets done soon cuz i dont wanna wait another decade 🚫😩

OMG, this is so exciting! πŸš‚πŸ‘ I was just talking about how crazy crowded the Regional Rail is in Philly with my friends last week. It's like, we know it's gonna be a mess during rush hour but 10 new cars? That's a game-changer! And I'm low-key impressed that SEPTA is getting these leased cars from Maryland's MARC system. It shows they're willing to think outside the box and get things done.

I do hope they can fix those Silverliner IV fleet problems ASAP, though. Those electrical fires are super concerning. Fingers crossed the repairs go smoothly and the new cars hit the tracks soon. This could be a big boost for SEPTA's services, especially with the bus routes getting some tweaks too. I'm just gonna keep an eye on this and see how it all shakes out πŸ’ͺ
