RSF drone strike kills at least three in central Sudan, injures several

Drone Strike in Central Sudan Leaves Dozens Dead or Injured as Fighting Intensifies

At least three people have been killed and several others wounded in a drone strike by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in central Sudan's city of el-Obeid, according to military sources. The attack occurred on Saturday afternoon, targeting a square near a police station in the Tayba neighborhood.

The incident highlights the escalating use of air power by the RSF as it shifts its focus from Darfur to the Kordofan region, a critical area that houses vital oil infrastructure. The region has witnessed intense clashes in recent weeks, forcing tens of thousands of people to flee their homes and exacerbating what aid agencies describe as one of the world's worst humanitarian emergencies.

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) had earlier retaliated against RSF positions in Um Adara town, while RSF forces shelled the city of Um Rawaba in the north, causing civilian casualties. Additionally, an RSF drone targeted army positions in Kosti city in White Nile state, destroying a military vehicle and injuring its crew.

The ongoing conflict has left nearly 13 million people displaced since fighting erupted in April 2023. The United Nations World Food Programme warned that it will be forced to slash food rations by up to 70 percent for communities facing starvation starting in January due to critical funding shortages. With funding at risk of "collapsing" by April, the programme's ability to continue operations is threatened.

The WFP stated that 20 million Sudanese are suffering from malnutrition, with six million facing famine-like conditions. The situation remains dire, with widespread human suffering and a humanitarian crisis unfolding in one of Africa's most vulnerable countries.

oh man, it sounds like things are getting really outta hand in sudan 🀯... i remember watching news about darfur back in 2010, and now it seems like the fighting has just shifted to another area, kordofan region? πŸ€” what's going on with all these drone strikes, tho? like, aren't they supposed to be used for good now? πŸš€ anyway, 13 million people displaced is just crazy... and the wfp's food rations are gonna be slashed by 70%?! that's just heartbreaking πŸ˜”... i hope someone can figure out a way to get aid in there ASAP πŸ’–

man this africa conflict is getting outta control 🀯 like whats going on in sudan?! drones are being used everywhere its so crazy they got drones flying around elobeid killing ppl its all so wrong 🚫 i feel for those innocent civilians gettin hurt every day its just heartbreaking to think about the 13 million ppl who got displaced already imagine bein forced to leave ur home with nothin πŸ˜”

Man, this news is like, so heartbreaking πŸ€•... you see, the thing is, when we're talkin' about conflict and war, it's easy to get caught up in the drama and forget that there are real people gettin' hurt, sufferin', and strugglin'. It's like, yeah, we gotta be strong, but we also gotta remember that our strength comes from helpin' each other out. This drone strike is just another example of how these conflicts can escalate so quickly, leavin' innocent people in the crossfire πŸ”«.

And let's not forget about the humanitarian crisis unfoldin' here... 13 million people displaced? 20 million strugglin' with malnutrition? It's like, we gotta take a step back and ask ourselves, what can we do to make a difference? Can we donate some money or resources to these organizations? Can we spread awareness about this issue? Because if we just sit around and watch, that's when the situation gets really dire πŸ˜•. So let's all try to be more mindful of how our actions affect others, 'cause in the end, it's all about compassion and understanding 🀝.

😞 It's just heartbreaking what's happening in Sudan right now... the thought of all those people struggling to survive, forced to flee their homes, and suffering from starvation and malnutrition is just too much. 🀯 The way it seems like the conflict just won't let up, with both sides using air power and shelling cities, it feels like we're seeing a war zone in Sudan... where are all these people supposed to go? It's not like they can just magically appear in another country or city. And the WFP is saying that funding is at risk of collapsing by April? That's just devastating... what's going to happen to those 20 million people who need help? 🀝 We really need to think about ways to get these aid organizations more stable funding so they can keep providing food and support to those in need. 🌟

😱🚨 oh man this is getting outta hand! Drone strikes r bad enough but adding all the other stuff like shelling towns & displacing so many ppl 🀯 13 million people on the move? that's a lot of suffering πŸ€• u no how it's a crisis, fam 😩 & now WFP gotta slash food rations by 70%? dat's like cutting the hand off ur own family member πŸ’” u need funding or ppl gonna starve. i'm literally sending all my good vibes to sudan rn πŸŒˆπŸ’–

πŸ€• this is just heartbreaking πŸ˜” the amount of people affected by this conflict is insane 🀯 13 million displaced, 20 million struggling with malnutrition... it's like the world is watching but not doing enough to help πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ we need more funding for these organizations so they can keep providing aid to those in need πŸ’– especially with the WFP warning of reduced food rations, it's a ticking time bomb for people on the brink of starvation ⚠️ what can we do? πŸ€” we can start by spreading awareness about this crisis and putting pressure on our leaders to take action πŸ—£οΈ every little bit counts πŸ’ͺ

😟 This drone strike in el-Obeid is a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of escalating violence in Sudan. The intensification of air power by the RSF signals a shift towards a more aggressive military strategy, exacerbating the humanitarian emergency unfolding in the Kordofan region 🚨. With millions displaced and facing starvation, it's imperative that we address the root causes of this conflict, prioritizing dialogue and peaceful resolution πŸ’‘. The UN World Food Programme's warning about food ration cuts is a clear indication that more needs to be done to mitigate the effects of this crisis 🌾. The international community must take a proactive stance to support Sudan's humanitarian efforts and work towards a lasting peace agreement πŸ’•.

😞...the drums of war keep beating louder in this desperate corner of the world. We're watching in silence as innocent lives are lost, families torn apart by conflict, and entire communities forced to flee their homes. It's like we're witnessing a never-ending, nightmarish loop of violence and human suffering πŸŒͺ️.

The drone strike itself is a stark reminder that even technology can be used as a tool for destruction, perpetuating cycles of fear and retaliation πŸ”₯. We need to take a step back and ask ourselves: what's driving these conflicts? Is it greed, power struggles, or something deeper?

We're told the region has vital oil infrastructure, but let's not forget that beneath all this chaos lies a complex web of social, economic, and environmental issues 🌿. The United Nations World Food Programme's warning about food ration cuts is just the tip of the iceberg – we need to confront the systemic failures that have led us to this humanitarian emergency 🀯.

Can't we do better? Can't we find a way to address these underlying issues without resorting to violence and fear? It's time for some tough questions, and it starts with us. We're the ones who can make a difference πŸ’‘.

omg this is so messed up!!! drone strikes are like who knows when they're gonna happen next?! first it was darfur now its kordofan... what's the plan here?! i mean we all know sudan has problems but come on 13 million ppl displaced?! that's insane! and wfp is having to cut food rations by 70%?! how are we even supposed to talk about 'humanitarian' when it sounds like the government is just gonna collapse funding any minute now?! six million ppl suffering from famine-like conditions... it's just too much 🀯🌎😑

😩🚨 I'm so worried about what's happening in Sudan right now πŸ€•. It's like the conflict is escalating by the minute ⏱️. I saw that news about the drone strike in el-Obeid and it's just devastating πŸŒͺ️. How many more innocent people have to get hurt before someone stops this senseless violence? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I'm trying to wrap my head around the numbers - 13 million displaced, 20 million suffering from malnutrition... it's like a never-ending nightmare 😨. And now the WFP is warning that they'll have to slash food rations by up to 70% πŸ”πŸ€―? It's just heartbreaking.

I wish I could come up with some sort of diagram or chart to show just how dire the situation is πŸ“Š, but words can't even begin to capture the scope of this humanitarian crisis. All I can do is hope that someone - anyone! - will step in to help these people soon 🀞.

omg what's happening in sudan?? 🀯 it's like the whole country is caught up in this huge conflict and nobody knows when it's gonna end 😩 i feel so bad for all those people who have to deal with the displacement, food shortages, and injuries... 13 million ppl on the move? that's crazy πŸ’₯ like what are they supposed to do now? can we do anything to help? πŸ€”

Ugh 🀯, drone strikes are just getting out of hand! Like, can't we find another way to resolve conflicts without killing people? It's not like the RSF is even trying to hold back their paramilitary antics 🚫. And what's with all these displaced folks? 13 million is insane 🀯, and it's only gonna get worse if the UN cuts food rations by 70%. The WFP is already stretched thin 🌈... I mean, how are they supposed to keep up with this level of need?

And don't even get me started on the oil infrastructure in Kordofan region πŸ€ͺ. It's like the RSF and SAF are just trying to one-up each other in a game of destructive tag ⚑️. Can't we just talk about finding a peaceful solution instead? This is getting ridiculous 😩.

The UN World Food Programme is literally on the brink of collapse 🌊, and it's all because of funding shortages πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. It's not like they're asking for much... just enough to keep people fed until the conflict dies down πŸ‘. Is that too much to ask? πŸ€”

πŸ€• what's going on in sudan?! like seriously, drone strikes are getting way outta control over there... all these innocent ppl gettin hurt or worse 🀯 13 million displaced & millions sufferin from malnutrition? it's like the world is watchin but doin nothin πŸ’” we gotta step up & help these people ASAP! 🚨

this is just getting outta control 🀯 drone strikes are like something straight outta video games but in real life it's people gettin hurt or killed... i dont know if anyone is holdin the RSF accountable for these attacks tho πŸ€” and its crazy that they're usin air power on civilians. how much longer can this go on? we need to think about the bigger picture here, not just the immediate violence... 13 million people displaced is a big number, like, what even happens to them? do they get help? πŸ€•

omg this is so heartbreaking πŸ€• drone strikes r getting more intense in sudan rn & it's like, what s the point? they're just causin more chaos n displacing ppl even more... at least 3 dead nd several injured in el-obeid n now the UN wfp says dey might have to cut food rations by 70% due to lack of funding 🀯 this humanitarian crisis is gettin outta hand

.. this drone strike is just another sign of how bad things have gotten in Sudan πŸ€•. Thousands of people are already displaced and struggling to find food, and then you add more deaths and injuries? It's like the conflict just keeps spiraling out of control πŸ”₯.

I'm also worried about the UN's situation - if funding for the World Food Programme starts to dry up, it's going to have huge consequences for those people in need. 70% less food rations is not a lot, and I can only imagine how hard it must be for them already 🀯.

It's crazy that this conflict has been going on for over a year now, and it still hasn't seemed to make anyone go away. The RSF and the SAF are just switching targets, but someone needs to find a solution that works for everyone βš”οΈ. It's just so frustrating when you see innocent people getting hurt in the crossfire πŸ’”.

man, this drone strike is just another symptom of the bigger issue here... so many ppl affected, like, what can we do to stop dis? πŸ€”πŸŒŽ shouldn't we be focusin on helpin those people instead of fightin each other? πŸ˜• the stats are wild, 13 million displaced, 20 mil sufferin from malnourishment... it's like, how can we let this happen in our world? 🌟 I dunno about air power, maybe there's a way to resolve dis without hurtin innocent ppl. We need to find a way to bring peace to sudan, for real πŸ’–

man this drone strike thing is getting outta control πŸš€ in sudan they need to figure out a way to stop all these factions from using air power against each other it's just gonna keep causing more harm & displacement for the ppl πŸ€• thinkin about the 13 million ppl displaced now its like a never endin crisis πŸŒͺ️ we need to get involved & make some real change happen πŸ’– but at the same time govts gotta take responsibility too & not just leave it all up to NGOs & UN agencies πŸ™„

Ugh πŸ€• I'm seriously worried about what's happening in Sudan rn 😬. It feels like the conflict is getting out of control & innocent ppl are getting caught in the middle πŸ€—. I mean, 20 million people struggling with malnutrition? That's just heartbreaking πŸ’”. The UN's warning that they might have to slash food rations by 70% is horrific 🚫. What if it gets worse? We need more support for those affected ASAP πŸ™. It's like, we can't just sit back & watch as ppl suffer πŸ˜•. We gotta do something! πŸ’ͺ
