Romanian bistro Bar Gabi opens in Hazel Park - Detroit Metro Times

New Romanian Bistro Bar Gabi Brings Traditional Cuisine to Hazel Park

A long-held dream has finally come true for husband-and-wife chefs Gabriel and Gabriela Botezan as their Romanian-inspired bistro, Bar Gabi, is set to open its doors in the former Framebar space of Hazel Park. The restaurant will officially launch at 5 p.m. on October 24th.

For the couple, who were born in Romania but met and honed their culinary skills in Detroit, this opening marks a significant milestone. "This means everything to us," says Gabriel. "We're finally able to showcase our culture and our food, which we've always dreamed of doing."

Gabriela adds, "It's about sharing who we are. Romanian food is often overlooked in America, so we want to highlight it and celebrate it more." To achieve this, the couple has carefully crafted a menu that blends traditional Romanian dishes with modern twists.

The menu boasts an array of options, including the Botezan's take on Tomahawk Schnitzel, Transylvanian Goulash, and Hungarian-inspired "Vaca Moo" steak. Rotating pastas and a variety of desserts round out the offerings, with items like Romanian Cremes and Albinita honey cake available.

In addition to its culinary offerings, Bar Gabi also boasts an impressive cocktail program led by Kenneth Laatz, which includes non-alcoholic options. The restaurant's interior was designed by Colin Tury, incorporating framed embroidery from Gabriela's family in Romania.

A separate area of the former Frame space has been designated for private parties and events, with the Botezans planning to host chef collaborations and other special occasions there in the future.

Located at 23839 John R Rd., Hazel Park, Bar Gabi is set to become a destination for foodies looking to explore traditional Romanian cuisine.

omg i'm so down for this! romanian food is literally underrated in the US ๐Ÿคฉ can't wait to try that Tomahawk Schnitzel and Transylvanian Goulash ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ‘Œ bar gabi better be serving up some good ol' fashioned hawaiศ›ian cuisine aka sarmale and mamaliga ๐Ÿ™ gotta get myself over to hazel park ASAP ๐Ÿ’จ

๐Ÿด this is gonna be amazing... i love how they're bringing romanian culture to hazel park ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ด the menu sounds so delicious especially the tomahawk schnitzel ๐Ÿคค and i'm intrigued by the "vaca moo" steak ๐Ÿค” also, a non-alcoholic cocktail program? ๐Ÿ‘ that's so cool ๐Ÿ’›

I gotta say, I was thinking they should've called it Gabi's instead of Bar Gabi ๐Ÿค”. Don't get me wrong, the name Bar Gabi sounds nice and all, but if you're gonna bring in your heritage and culture like that, you might as well go full-on Romanian-style with the name ๐Ÿ˜Š. And have you seen those prices? $25 for a plate of Ciorba de Burtฤƒ? That's steep, fam ๐Ÿ’ธ. I mean, I know it's from Romania and all, but I'm not sure if it's worth that kinda cash ๐Ÿค‘. Still, I guess it'll be cool to try some new grub.

๐Ÿด I'm so stoked that this new bistro is coming to Hazel Park! It's about time we had more options for authentic Romanian food around here. The fact that the owners are putting their own spin on traditional dishes with modern twists sounds like a winning recipe ๐Ÿคฉ. I love how they're not just serving up your run-of-the-mill schnitzel, but also offering unique stuff like "Vaca Moo" steak ๐Ÿฎ. And can we talk about the cocktails? A non-alcoholic option for everyone is definitely a plus! Fingers crossed Bar Gabi becomes a foodie hotspot in no time ๐Ÿคž

omg u gotta try this new bistro bar thingy called bar gabi ๐Ÿด๐Ÿ‘Œ! its all about them romanian dishes, i mean we dont get enough of that around here, so lets be real. its not just about the food tho, its also got a sick cocktail menu and a dope interior ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ™๏ธ. my only grip is the name gabi bruh, cant they come up with something more creative? but overall i'm hyped to try it out ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ‘

I'm not sure if this bistro is gonna be as great as they're making it out to be ๐Ÿค”. I mean, have you ever had Romanian food before? It's like a mystery meat stew or something... anyway, I guess it's cool that the owners are trying to share their culture and all, but what if nobody comes? Or what if they just can't pull off the modern twists? I'm not counting my chickens yet, fam ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. Maybe they'll get the buzz going with those fancy cocktails, lol ๐Ÿ˜Ž. But honestly, I'd rather try it out myself when it's all said and done... no rush, you know?

Just saw that new Romanian bistro bar Gabi Brings Traditional Cuisine to Hazel Park ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ด๐Ÿด and I'm so down to try it out! The owners are so passionate about sharing their culture through food, which is really cool. I love how they're adding modern twists to traditional dishes - it sounds like a great way to make Romanian cuisine more approachable for people who might not have tried it before. And omg, Hungarian-inspired "Vaca Moo" steak? That's a new one! ๐Ÿ˜ Can't wait to go and try some of their delicious-sounding pastas and desserts too ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ‘Œ
