Richmond man arrested in connection with 2024 Berkeley gas station robbery

Local Berkeley Authorities Nab Richmond Man in Connection with 2024 Gas Station Robbery

A 49-year-old man from Richmond was taken into custody on October 26th in Pittsburg, California, following a lengthy investigation by the Berkeley Police Department. The suspect is accused of robbing a Chevron gas station located on San Pablo Avenue in November 2024.

According to authorities, the suspect entered the store armed with a revolver and threatened the clerk before repeatedly attempting to breach the protected cashier area. Despite initial attempts to intimidate the clerk, the suspect was unable to gain access to the pass-through drawer. Instead, he allegedly pointed his gun at the clerk from this vantage point.

The Berkeley Police Department credits an automated license plate reader for helping identify the suspect's vehicle, which led to a connection with the Marin County Sheriff's Office. In December, investigators discovered that the man they believed was involved in several robberies had used a silver revolver.

Following the identification of the suspect's vehicle, detectives secured a warrant for his arrest in February. On October 26th, the suspect was apprehended in Pittsburg and subsequently booked on multiple charges.

The Berkeley Police Department commended their efforts as "one more example of how technology, coupled with diligence and collaboration, can aid in keeping the public safe while not tolerating senseless gun crimes in our community."

just read about this guy from richmond who got caught after some clever detective work ๐Ÿ™Œ. its always wild to see how one small tech clue can crack a whole case like that... and btw, i'm glad cops are highlighting the importance of tech and teamwork in solving crimes - it's awesome to know our law enforcement is on top of things ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ‘ฎ

omg this guy thought he could just walk into a gas station and take what he wanted lol what was he thinking?! ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

i mean i get it the guy's got some issues but come on, use a silver revolver? that's like leaving a breadcrumb trail for the cops to follow ๐Ÿž๏ธ. and then you try to intimidate the clerk from behind the pass-through drawer? like, what's next, holding up a bank through the ATM slot? ๐Ÿค‘

anyway, gotta give props to the Berkeley PD for using tech to track down this dude. it's not just about throwing some guns away and hoping for the best, it's about being proactive and smart about crime-fighting ๐Ÿ’ก

This whole situation just feels like a perfect storm of technology meeting good old-fashioned detective work ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’ก. I mean, think about it - an automated license plate reader is basically what brought this guy down, and that's something we can all get behind! It's like the police are saying, "Hey, tech is here to help us, but we still need human intuition and hard work too" ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. And I gotta say, it's pretty impressive that they were able to connect the dots between this guy and other robberies in Marin County - talk about a team effort! ๐Ÿ‘

I mean, it's always a relief when authorities are able to crack down on senseless crimes ๐Ÿ™Œ. This guy thought he could just walk into a gas station, threaten people with a gun, and get away with it? No way, not on my watch ๐Ÿ˜‚. I'm all for technology helping keep us safe - those automated license plate readers are like the ultimate superheroes of law enforcement ๐Ÿ”.

But what really gets me is how this guy tried to breach the cashier area and ended up just pointing his gun at the clerk from a distance ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Like, didn't he know that's not how you get what you want? You gotta be willing to work with people, not hold them hostage ๐Ÿค‘.

Anyway, I'm all for justice being served and the public feeling safe again ๐Ÿ’•. It's just crazy to think about how one person can cause so much harm and chaos ๐Ÿคฏ.

๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ’ก OMG, I'm so impressed by how tech-savvy those cops are! I mean, who wouldn't want to catch a thief with an automated license plate reader? ๐Ÿคฏ It's like having your own personal superpower! And can you believe it led to the identification of that silver revolver? Clever move, right? ๐Ÿ˜Ž So, I'm all for using tech to fight crime and keep our communities safe. ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ’– What's even cooler is that collaboration between different law enforcement agencies makes a huge difference too! ๐Ÿ‘ซ We should all be cheering on those detectives who worked tirelessly to crack this case! ๐Ÿ‘

I'm a bit surprised that it took so long to catch this guy - 10 months is ages for an investigation like that. I think the fact that they used an automated license plate reader was a game changer though. It's crazy how technology can help crack these cases. The whole thing sounds pretty intense, I mean the guy was armed and trying to threaten the clerk. But I guess you've got to admire the police for not giving up. They're saying it's one of those examples where tech, hard work, and collaboration all come together to keep people safe. It's just a shame that senseless gun violence is still such an issue in our communities ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’ป

just heard about this dude being caught for robbing a gas station like what's the point of carrying around a gun just to rob some snacks? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜’ anyway, gotta give props to the Berkeley cops for using technology to crack the case it's like they say, info is power! ๐Ÿ’ก and now hopefully he's gonna get the help he needs since he's been involved in multiple robberies ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’” can't let people use guns as a way out of their problems, we gotta support each other instead ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ”ฅ just heard about this guy from Richmond who got caught in Pittsburg and I gotta say, that's some low-key crazy stuff. I mean, entering a gas station with a revolver? Like what's next, robbing the bank on foot? ๐Ÿคฃ but for real though, kudos to the Berkeley PD for getting their act together and using tech to catch this guy. Automated license plate readers are everything! ๐Ÿ’ป they need to get more of these in every city. also, props to the clerk who didn't lose it when some psycho showed up with a gun... that takes skill, bro ๐Ÿ˜‚

๐Ÿค” just saw this news about that Richmond guy and i'm kinda surprised he was able to evade cops for so long. i mean, automated license plate readers are pretty common now, but still, a clever investigation can work wonders ๐ŸŽ‰. it's also crazy how the suspect used a silver revolver in one of the robberies... did we hear about that specific case before? ๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿค” this guy is a total weirdo! I mean, what's up with trying to rob a gas station? And wielding a revolver like it's no big deal ๐Ÿšซ. And now he's got multiple charges against him? poor dude needs some serious help ๐Ÿ˜•. anyway, kudos to the Berkeley PD for getting their man ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. automation and tech are def making law enforcement easier and more efficient ๐Ÿ’ป. hope this guy gets the treatment he needs ๐Ÿคž.

just what a waste of resources goin on here 49 years old man think he's tough wavin that revolver around like it's nobody business meanwhile people are dyin out there cuz of senseless gun violence ๐Ÿšซ and those authorities be talkin 'bout tech & collaboration yeah sure let's get to the root of the problem already ๐Ÿ’ก why we gotta keep sweepin up these low level crooks instead a focus on the real issue at hand

I think this whole thing is kinda messed up ๐Ÿค”. Like, we're supposed to be all about rehabilitation and stuff, but they just locked him up without even trying to talk to him first? ๐Ÿš” It's like, what's the point of rehabilitation if you're not even gonna try to help him? And what about his rights? He's still got a right to an attorney, but I guess that gets thrown out the window when you're behind bars ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Plus, is it really necessary to have such harsh penalties for first-time offenders? It feels like we're just perpetuating more incarceration and that's not gonna fix anything ๐Ÿ”’.

I'm so tired of these guys walking around with guns just to rob a gas station. Like, what's the plan? Break into a Chevron and just be all "yoo hoo" or point that thing at someone till they hand over their cash ๐Ÿค‘. It's not that hard, just pay for your own fuel like everyone else.

I'm glad the Berkeley cops were able to catch this guy, though. That automated license plate reader must've been a game changer. And kudos to them for using tech to keep us safe instead of relying on outdated methods. It's all about being smart and working together, you know? ๐Ÿ’ก

man i cant believe those cops outsmarted some dude who thought robbing a gas station was gonna be easy lol 49 yrs old? what did he expect? all those years of life and still tryna do this crazy stuff ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Berkeley PD is straight fire btw, they got the tech and the skills to take down these senseless gun crimes and keep people safe ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ’ช.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this guy's escape tactics. I mean, seriously, if he couldn't get the cash from the pass-through drawer, why not just give up? ๐Ÿค” He had 'em right where they wanted him... or so it seemed. Did anyone verify that silver revolver he used was indeed his? Maybe someone just gave it to him for good measure? Also, how did this automated license plate reader work? Is it possible this tech has been around since 2024? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Just saw that a guy from Richmond got caught up in some gas station robbery stuff last year. Like what's the deal with people thinking they can just walk into a convenience store and start waving guns around? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ The tech is definitely helping keep us safe, I mean who wouldn't want to see their license plate on screen instead of trying to guess it out loud like some folks do ๐Ÿ˜…. Anyway, glad the police were able to crack the case, but can we talk about how many people are carrying guns around and using them for non-life threatening situations? Just saying, let's try to keep our communities safe without resorting to violence ๐Ÿค.

OMG what a joke ๐Ÿคฃ this guy was literally trying to rob a gas station and they caught him with an auto license plate reader lol what's next? ๐Ÿšจ having police drones for backup? ๐Ÿ˜‚ anyway I'm glad the clerk wasn't hurt but it's still crazy that someone tries to threaten them just over some cash ๐Ÿ’ธ and btw 49 is kinda old to be robbing gas stations, get a job dude ๐Ÿ’ผ

Man... I'm just thinking about how far we've come with law enforcement tech ๐Ÿค–. Like, 5 years ago this would've been like something out of a movie where they'd be searching for clues and following leads manually. Now it's all automated license plate readers and whatnot ๐Ÿ’ป. But at the same time... can you imagine if this guy was actually caught that quickly back in the day? I guess progress is a double-edged sword, right? The police might not have been able to stop him as fast, but they would've had more resources to put towards stopping other crimes ๐Ÿค”.

I FEEL SO BAD FOR THE CASHIER WHO WAS THREATENED BY THIS GUY ๐Ÿค•. IT SOUNDS LIKE SUCH A STRESSFUL AND SCARY EXPERIENCE FOR THEM, EVEN WHEN THEY DIDNT GIVE IN TO THE SUSPECT'S DEMANDS. I THINK ITS GREAT THAT THE POLICE WERE ABLE TO USE TECHNOLOGY TO HELP CATCH THE GUY, BUT CAN WE PLEASE JUST HAVE LESS GUNS OUT THERE AND MORE PEACEFUL RESOLUTIONS? ๐Ÿ’ก
