Patriots torment Stroud to beat Texans and set up AFC championship with Broncos

The New England Patriots have made a triumphant return to the AFC championship game, securing their 16th conference championship appearance in Mike Vrabel's first season as head coach. The team will now face off against the Denver Broncos in what promises to be an exciting showdown.

In a closely contested game that saw both teams struggling with turnovers and fumbles, the Patriots ultimately emerged victorious, defeating the Houston Texans 28-16 on Sunday. Quarterback Drake Maye led the charge, throwing three touchdown passes, but struggled with interceptions and fumbles throughout the game.

Maye's performance was far from perfect, as he finished just 16 of 27 for 179 yards while also losing two fumbles in cold conditions that saw snow and rain fall throughout the game. Despite this, his teammates rallied around him, with several players making key plays to secure their victory.

The Patriots' defense played a crucial role in the team's success, with multiple players forcing turnovers and recovering fumbles. Carlton Davis III led the way, recording two interceptions, while Craig Woodson added another interception and fumble recovery to the tally.

For the Texans, CJ Stroud was plagued by interceptions, throwing four throughout the game. His struggles were compounded by a series of fumbles, including one that set up Houston's first touchdown. The team's loss marks their fifth consecutive defeat in the divisional round under coach DeMeco Ryans, who is now 0-7 all-time in this stage of the playoffs.

The Patriots' victory marked their ninth win in nine divisional round games, cementing their status as a force to be reckoned with in the AFC. As they prepare for their upcoming matchup against the Broncos, the team will need to focus on protecting the ball and making fewer turnovers if they hope to emerge victorious.

Despite the challenges ahead, Patriots coach Bill Belichick's team is well-equipped to handle the task, having made a deep run in the playoffs just seven years ago. With a healthy dose of determination and teamwork, New England is poised to make another successful foray into the championship game.

I gotta disagree with all this hype around the Patriots' return to the AFC champ game. I think they got lucky, man... 🤔 Their defense was decent, but their QB play is still super sketchy and they almost lost to the Texans! Drake Maye's stats don't lie, he had some major fumbles and turnovers. And let's not forget, his teammates barely batted an eye when he messed up - that's not a team effort if you ask me 😒 The Broncos better bring their A-game because I got my money on them 🤑

I'm so hyped for the Pats! 🤩 They've been playing amazing all season and it's great to see them come out on top in such a tough game. I know QB Drake Maye had a few wobbly moments, but his teammates really stepped up to support him. And that defense? 💥 Unstoppable! Carlton Davis III is my man 🤩. I love how the team is staying focused and determined, even with a tough opponent ahead. Belichick's got this, he always does 😎. Bring on the Broncos game, I'm ready for it! 🏈🔥

I'm so hyped about this game! 🤩 I mean, 28-16 against the Texans? That's like, totally sick! Drake Maye had his moments, but he's gotta work on that interception thingy... 🤦‍♂️ Anyway, I'm so down for Pats vs Broncos next week. It's gonna be a wild ride! And can we talk about how Carlton Davis III is a total boss? He's like the real MVP right now 😎👏

I'm soooo glad the Texans got destroyed 🤦‍♂️. Like, it's not like they had a good team or anything... I mean, who needs CJ Stroud when you've got Drake Maye throwing touchdowns willy-nilly? 😎 And seriously, 4 interceptions is nothing to sneeze at... I bet he was just having a bad day 🤪. The Broncos are gonna be the ones struggling to keep up with the Pats' high-powered offense 🏈. Bring it on! 💥

I'm loving this comeback by the Pats 🏈💪! They've been through the wringer with all these injuries and whatnot, but they still manage to pull it off. Drake Maye's not perfect, I get it, but he's still a young gun trying to learn on the fly 💦. And that defense? Forget about it 🔒, Carlton Davis III is like a superhero out there 🦸‍♂️! They're gonna have to keep their cool against the Broncos though - that team's got some tricks up their sleeve 🔮. Still, I'm all for it - bring on the AFC championship game and let's see what these guys are made of 💥!
