I'm all for safety first! 50k runners and 1 million spectators can get pretty wild
, so it's awesome the NYPD is taking proactive measures to keep everyone safe
. With air support, canine units, and an elite bomb squad on standby, you can bet your bottom dollar security won't be a major issue
. It's also super smart of them to monitor social media for any potential trouble - we've seen how quickly online chatter can escalate into real-world issues
. My only concern is the impact on traffic and parking around the city
, but I'm sure commuters will adapt and find alternative routes
. All in all, I'm feeling pretty confident that this year's marathon will be a huge success

And what's with all these security measures? I get it, safety first and all that, but have you seen the crowds they're expecting?! 
I'm starting to think they'll need to set up a separate security force just for the spectators... 
I hope it doesn't come at the expense of our sanity (and traffic congestion) though. Let's just hope everyone stays safe and has a good time... maybe with earplugs or something?
