Paramount+ has announced the upcoming crime drama series "NOLA King," which serves as a spinoff of Taylor Sheridan's hit show "Tulsa King." The new series sees Samuel L. Jackson reprise his role as Russell Lee Washington Jr., also known as 'Lee,' a New Orleans-based criminal and associate of Sylvester Stallone's character Dwight 'The General' Manfredi.
According to the official summary, the story follows Lee as he returns to New Orleans, a city he abandoned 40 years ago, to rekindle his relationship with family and friends. However, this move incurs the wrath of his former employers in New York, making him vulnerable to old NOLA foes, both criminal and cop.
The series is inspired by the possibilities of second chances created by Dwight's character in Tulsa, as stated by Sylvester Stallone. The show will serve as a family-driven franchise that elevates beyond a mob boss series, with Jackson anchoring the new adventure in NOLA.
"NOLA King" will be available exclusively on Paramount+, following the success of other Taylor Sheridan shows such as "Mayor of Kingstown" and "Landman." Production for the series is expected to start in February 2026, with an anticipated fall 2026 release.
