Lure review – eligible bachelors dying for romance in Saw-style dating game

Lure Falls Flat as Eligible Bachelors Become Saw-Style Trapped Victims

The setup for this low-budget horror film is intriguing, pitting six eligible young men against a cunning and deadly woman in a twisted game of cat and mouse. Imagine a dark, twisted mashup of The Bachelorette and Jigsaw's gruesome traps - it's a promising premise on paper.

However, the execution fails to deliver. Despite its potential for suspenseful thrills, Lure consistently struggles to create a believable world that draws viewers in. Horror films need to balance real tension with over-the-top moments; here, the former is noticeably absent, leaving the proceedings feeling more like a school play than a serious fright-fest.

While there are some flashes of individual brilliance - certain scenes show promise, but they're never sustained long enough to fully immerse us in the action. The viewer is always kept at arm's length, never quite willing the characters to escape or suffer their deserved fate.

The biggest problem is that Lure can't decide what kind of film it wants to be. One minute it's a slow-burning folk horror; the next, it's a gore-fest torture scene, with moments in between that feel more like awkward misfires than clever twists. The result is a jumbled mess that fails to cohere into something even remotely convincing.

Furthermore, the film's staging often feels flimsy, with characters easily escaping their restraints and predicaments thanks to implausible plot devices. It's hard not to laugh at these moments of absurdity rather than feeling genuinely unnerved.

Ultimately, Lure's failure to deliver on its intriguing premise is a disappointment. Despite some occasional flashes of potential, it remains a messy, unconvincing horror film that fails to live up to its full promise.

omg i just watched lure and boy was it underwhelming 😒 the concept had so much potential but honestly felt like they took all the thrills and suspense and replaced them with cringeworthy awkward moments 🤣 like can't we just have one solidly scary scene without a character getting out of a ridiculously contrived situation 🙄 also idk what kind of horror fan these guys are but a slow-burning folk horror then suddenly gore fest is not how you make a believable tense atmosphere ouch 😩

omg I was so hyped for this movie but after reading this review I'm kinda disappointed 🤕 the idea of a twisted game of cat and mouse sounds so intense but like what went wrong? 😔 I mean I love a good horror film with suspenseful thrills, but it seems like Lure just didn't deliver 🚫. the whole thing feels like it's all over the place - is it folk horror or a gore fest? 🤯 and those flimsy plot devices are just so annoying 😒. I wish they would've stuck to one vibe and made it work! 💔

man i feel u about lure 😐 it had so much hype around it but the execution was just meh 💔 i mean dont get me wrong its not like its the worst horror movie ever or anything 🙅‍♂️ but come on, six guys trapped in a crazy game with this chick? that sounds like an awesome premise to me! 🤯 but i guess the filmmaker just messed it up big time 🚮 didnt feel any real tension or suspense, just felt like we were watching a bunch of dudes flail around in awkward situations 😂 and lol at how unrealistic all the plot twists were 🙄

Ugh, I just watched this new horror movie "Lure" and I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong 🤔. It's like they took a promising idea and threw it into the trash 🚮. The whole 'twisted game of cat and mouse' thing sounds great on paper, but in reality, it just felt like a lazy attempt at suspense 😴. And don't even get me started on how ridiculous some of the plot devices were - I mean, come on, if you're trapped in a room with no way out, can you really just casually walk away and escape? 🙄 It was like they phoned it in and expected us to buy it without question. And the ending? Completely unimpressed 😐. Just another low-budget horror film that fails to deliver on its promise 👎

I just watched this new horror flick "Lure" and I gotta say, what a total letdown 🤦‍♂️. It had all the right ingredients - creepy setting, twisted game master, etc. But they just didn't execute it well enough. The tension was missing and those big Gore moments felt more like a joke than terrifying 😂. And don't even get me started on how silly the plot twists were... I mean, come on, you can see 'em coming from a mile away! It's like they took all the best horror movie bits and mashed 'em up into something that just didn't work 🤯. Maybe if they'd stuck to one vibe and not tried to do everything at once it would've been alright... alas, I guess that was just a fish out of water 🐟 for this filmmaker 🙄

🤔 I mean... have you ever stopped to think about how societal expectations can shape our perception of fear and tension in media? Like, we're constantly being bombarded with images of perfect, flawless contestants on reality TV shows and dating shows, and then these horror movies come along trying to subvert that expectation. But what if the real horror isn't the monster or the trap, but the pressure to conform to those societal norms?

And I'm not just talking about the film itself, which does feel a bit disjointed. I'm talking about how our own expectations of horror movies are shaped by years of watching the same tropes and conventions. We're like, "Oh, this is too slow, this is too gory"... but what if we were to actually be uncomfortable for once? What if that feeling of unease wasn't just about the film itself, but about our own complicity in perpetuating those societal expectations?

It's a bit of a philosophical tangent, I know... but sometimes I think horror movies are more about exploring those existential questions than they are about scaring us. 🎃

omg what happened to this movie?? 🤯 the setup was so promising but i guess they just couldn't execute it 😔 idk how u can make a horror film feel like a school play 📚 it needs more tension and suspense, not that over-the-top gore stuff. and btw why do the characters always escape with such weird plot devices? 🤷‍♀️ its hard to take it seriously when its just so absurd 🤪

I'm so glad this movie got roasted 😂... I mean, it really didn't deserve a good review. The idea of six eligible bachelors being trapped and killed in some twisted game sounds super sketchy 🤔, but who needs subtlety or realism when you're trying to scare people right? It's just a bunch of cheesy traps and awkward moments that made me LOL instead of scream 🎃.

And can we talk about how the film tries to be all dark and folk horror-y one minute, then suddenly turns into some sort of sadistic torture fest the next? Like, what even is the point of that? It's just a mess of conflicting tones and styles that don't really work together.

I also loved how the characters just kinda... escape their restraints whenever they needed to 😂. I mean, who hasn't been in a situation where they just totally forgot about all the chains and duct tape holding them down? Not me, that's for sure 🤦‍♂️. Anyway, Lure was just one of those movies that made me shrug and think, "Meh, I'll stick to Netflix rom-coms" 💁‍♀️.

I just watched this low-budget horror film and I gotta say, it was a total letdown 🤯. The idea of six eligible bachelors being trapped in this twisted game with a deadly woman sounded so promising, but like, the execution was super weak 💔. They need to balance tension with suspense, not just rely on cheap jump scares and awkward misfires. And what's up with the plot constantly changing direction? It felt like they couldn't decide if they wanted it to be a folk horror thing or just a gore fest 🤪. The staging was also super flimsy, I mean, who needs that much convenient luck to escape from certain doom 😂. Overall, it was just a mess and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a good scare 👻.

I mean... I was really hyped for this movie at first, thought the Bachelorette/Jigsaw vibe would be so sick 🤯, but now I'm kinda regretting it 😔. The whole thing just feels like a big mess, you know? Like they were trying to do too many things and ended up with nothing. And don't even get me started on how cheesy the "twists" are 💁‍♀️. I mean, come on, if someone's just gonna die like that out of nowhere, it's not suspenseful, it's just sad 🤕. The whole pacing thing is all over the place too, feels like they changed their mind every five minutes 🔄. And those "torture scenes" are just cringeworthy 😓. I was expecting a lot more from this one...

🤦‍♂️ this movie just doesn't work, right? 22% on Rotten Tomatoes is pretty low 📉 4/10 would not rewatch 🎬 the plot is all over the place - I mean, who tries to create a horror film that's both folk horror and gore-fest at the same time? 🤔 it just doesn't add up 📊 75% of the scenes are just awkwardly staged - the special effects aren't bad, but the whole thing feels like a bad video game cutscene 😳 did they even test the traps before filming? 🎥 32 million views in one week is decent for a low-budget horror film, I guess 📈

omg i was so hyped for this movie but now im def disappointed lol the setup sounds so cool and i love the idea of it being like a mix of the bachelorette and jigsaw's traps but honestly its just not that scary 🤣 i mean what kind of horror film lets you escape with like no effort at all? its just too absurd and unrealistic its like they took all these dark ideas and threw them together without thinking them through

and can we talk about how inconsistent the tone is? one minute its folk horror the next its a full on gore fest and im over here like what are you even doing?! 🤯 it just feels so unpolished and messy. i dont know what the filmmakers were going for but they clearly didn't nail it

i guess what i'm saying is if you're a die hard horror fan you might wanna skip this one unless u want to cringe at some really bad plot devices 😂
