'I don't have to create his legacy, I just have to protect it': Chadwick Boseman's widow Simone on grieving a global star – and guarding his secrets

Simone Ledward Boseman is married to Chadwick Boseman, an American actor and playwright. They met while studying at Howard University in 2000 and began dating in 2016. The couple got engaged in the autumn of 2019, but Boseman's health quickly took a turn for the worse due to colorectal cancer.

Ledward Boseman has been open about her experiences with grief and how it has affected her life since Chadwick's passing on August 28, 2020. She has spoken publicly about their relationship, their wedding, and his final days. The couple had planned a small ceremony in Vallejo, California, surrounded by family.

Ledward Boseman is now focused on moving forward with her life, including starting her own business venture - a wine bar in Vallejo. She has also been working on her music career as a singer under the artist name "sahn" and is set to release her second album in May this year.

The couple's love story is one of resilience and faith, as they navigated their relationship through health struggles and ultimately got married before Boseman's passing. Ledward Boseman continues to honor Chadwick's legacy while forging her own path forward.

In an interview with The Guardian, Ledward Boseman said, "He would be upset if I made my life about his life." She added, "From the point I met Chad, it's been hard to talk about myself and my work without talking about him. He just changed my whole life and my perspective of my life – he was my most important spiritual teacher."

Ledward Boseman has also spoken about the importance of remembering and honoring Chadwick's legacy while continuing to live her own life. She said, "To continue saying his name is to remember him."

I'm still trying to wrap my head around it... Chadwick Boseman was only 43 when he passed away 🤯. I mean, he had so much more living and giving back to the world. Simone Ledward Boseman's story breaks my heart, you know? She's like a shining star that just got dimmed too soon 💔. It's amazing how she's still pushing forward with her music career and business venture... I guess that's what Chad would want for her 🎶. And I love how she said in that interview that she wants to remember him, not define herself by him... that takes so much courage 💪.

I don't know how people can just start a new business or pursue music after losing their partner like that 🤯. I mean, I get it, moving on and living your best life is important, but does Ledward really need to open up another wine bar now? Like, isn't that a bit insensitive? And what's with all the Chadwick this and that? Can't she just focus on her own stuff for once? 🙄

omg u gotta respect sahn ledward boseman's vibes right now!!! she's keepin it real by movin forward with her music career & startin a wine bar 🍷💫 while still honorin' chadwick's legacy. i love how she said "to continue saying his name is to remember him" - that's so profound 🙏. and btw, can we talk about how amazing it is that she's makin her own way in the world without comparin herself to her hubby? she's got this 💁‍♀️

💔 I'm still in shock thinking about how fast Chadwick passed away... I mean, it feels like just yesterday he was acting alongside Michael B. Jordan in Black Panther 🎥👊. Simone Ledward Boseman's story though is truly inspiring - she's being super open and honest about her grief, and I love that she's focusing on building a life of her own 💪. The fact that she's starting her own business and pursuing music is amazing 🍷🎵... Chadwick would've been so proud of her! 💕

😔 I just can't help but feel for Simone Ledward Boseman 🤗. Losing a partner like that must be so tough for her 💔. I think it's really beautiful how she's choosing to focus on her own life and businesses, while still keeping Chadwick's memory alive ❤️. She's not letting his legacy define her entirely, which is a great message of resilience 💪. And I love that she's using her music as a way to honor him - it's such a special way to keep his spirit alive 🎶. It's clear that Chadwick meant the world to her, but Simone is forging her own path now and that's something to be celebrated 🌞!

omg i'm so inspired by simone ledward boseman right now 🤩 she's a total boss for keeping chadwick's memory alive while still chasing her own dreams 💁‍♀️ i love how she said he'd be upset if she made her life about his life, that's such a beautiful thing to do ❤️ and can we talk about how talented she is too? 🎶 i've been listening to sahn's music nonstop since learning about it, the woman is a total gem 💫

Ugh I'm so down for sahn's new album drop in May 🎶😍 she's been through some crazy stuff with Chad's passing and it's amazing how strong she's come out the other side. I love that she's not letting her music be defined by his legacy, though - it's all about her growth and self-expression now 💖. And can we talk about how fierce she is for honoring Chad's memory while still living her best life? She's got this whole "remembering" thing down pat 💫 - like, to continue saying his name is to remember him, you feel? It's a beautiful tribute, not a way to define herself as someone else. I'm SO here for sahn's wine bar venture too 🍷🎶 - we need more women taking control of their own businesses and passions!

🤷‍♀️ so Simone Ledward Boseman is finally trying to move on from Chadwick's passing and starting her own business venture - a wine bar in Vallejo 🍷💼. I guess it's about time she poured herself into something other than mourning his loss (no pun intended). On a serious note, I admire her resilience and dedication to honoring Chadwick's legacy while forging her own path forward 💪. It's clear she still holds him close to her heart ❤️. Can't wait to see what "sahn" has in store for us with that second album 🎵

🙏 I just can't help but feel for Ledward Boseman - she's been through so much with losing Chadwick. It's beautiful that she's focusing on building a new life for herself, starting her own business and pursuing music. But it's also really admirable how she's not letting his memory define her entirely... she wants to make a name for herself as well! 💁‍♀️ I love how she puts it in interviews too, like "he was my most important spiritual teacher" - it's clear how much he meant to her. Anyway, can't wait to check out her music album coming up this May 🎵

Ugh I'm still in shock over Chadwick's passing 🤕 it's crazy how fast time flies when you're grieving... anyway I feel so bad for Simone Ledward Boseman she has been through so much already and now she's just trying to move on with her life 💖 which is actually kinda inspiring - starting a wine bar and pursuing music, that sounds like an amazing way to channel her emotions into something positive 🍷🎶 I love how she's also talking about not letting Chadwick define her entire identity though, that's so important for all of us who have lost someone we love 💕

I'm so inspired by Simone Ledward Boseman 🙌! Losing someone you love can be one of the toughest things in the world, but she's choosing to focus on living a beautiful life and honoring Chadwick's memory instead of getting stuck in grief 💕. I think it's amazing that she's starting her own business venture - a wine bar in Vallejo sounds like such a lovely idea 🍷! And her music career is super cool too 🎶, she's got talent for sure! I also love how she's trying to balance remembering Chadwick with living her own life and pursuing her passions. It's all about finding that balance between celebrating their love story and forging your own path forward 💪. She's an amazing woman and an inspiration to us all 🌟.

🤔 I'm still in shock when I heard about Chadwick's passing... it feels like it was just yesterday we were celebrating his love story with Simone 🎉. It's amazing how strong their bond was, despite all the challenges they faced together 💕. As a fan, it's hard not to get caught up in reminiscing about his iconic roles and legacy 🎬.

But what I admire most about Simone is that she's taking her time to heal and move forward 🌱. It's not easy losing someone so close, but she's using her platform to spread love and positivity ❤️. Her music career is looking up 🎵 and I'm excited to hear her new album in May! Maybe this is the push she needs to make a mark of her own 💫.

It's also beautiful to see how Simone wants to honor Chadwick's legacy without making it all about him 🙏. She's finding her own voice and creating a life that's true to herself. We can all learn from her resilience and faith in moving forward 💪. Can't wait to support her on this new chapter of her journey 🎉!

omg i'm getting so emotional just thinking about simone ledward boseman's story 🤯 she's like a total strongwoman after going through so much grief and loss 💔 Chadwick was more than just her husband he was literally her everything and now that he's gone his legacy lives on thru her but honestly it's hard to see her trying to balance living her own life and honoring chad's memory at the same time 🤝 i mean we've all been there where our partner is literally our rock but it sounds like simone is really struggling with how to move forward without him by her side 😔 anyway i'm super proud of her for pursuing her passions and starting her own business - that wine bar in vallejo is gonna be lit 🍷🎶

😍 I'm literally dying over Ledward Boseman 🤩! She's like the ultimate strength queen 💪! I mean, can you even imagine having to navigate a relationship through all that health drama and then losing your partner 😢? But Chadwick was literally her rock 💕, and she's still carrying on his legacy in the most beautiful way ❤️. And now, she's starting her own business and releasing music 🎶? I'm low-key intimidated by her awesomeness 😲! She's not just honoring Chadwick's memory, but also forging her own path and being a boss 💁‍♀️. Can we get a Ledward Boseman merch line, stat?! 💖

Ugh, can't believe they're already trying to cash in on Chadwick's passing with Simone's new wine bar 🍷😒. Like, I get it, she needs the money and all that, but couldn't they have waited a bit longer? And what's next, a tribute tour or something? 💸 I just don't want her to become a one-dimensional "widow of a famous actor" persona. Can't she just focus on building her own brand and career for once? 🤷‍♀️

And I'm not even going to get started on the fact that they had to get engaged and plan a wedding so quickly after Chadwick's diagnosis. It's like, what were they thinking?! 💔 That poor man was fighting for his life and she's already planning her fantasy wedding with him 🤵‍♀️. I just don't think it's right.

I feel bad for Ledward Boseman, she's been through so much already losing her hubby to cancer 😔. It's amazing how strong she is though, starting her own business and pursuing her music career. I wish her all the best 🎉. But at the same time, I'm a bit worried about the pressure of living up to Chadwick's legacy - it can be tough balancing that with forging your own path 💔. I hope she finds a way to honor his memory without making herself disappear in the process 😊.

I'm so sorry for Chadwick Boseman, that guy had some serious acting chops – I mean, he could cry on screen and still make you feel all the feels 😭🎬. But seriously, Simone Ledward Boseman's wine bar idea sounds like a grape way to honor her hubby's memory (sorry, couldn't resist 😉). Starting her own business is no easy feat, especially when life gives you cancer – but she's got a song to sing and a name to live up to as "sahn" 🎤💃. I hope she finds success and happiness, because it's clear she's carrying on Chadwick's legacy with love and heart ❤️.

🤔 I got a weird vibe from this whole story. Like, Ledward Boseman is trying to move on with her life after losing her hubby, but there's something about how she's always talking about Chadwick that doesn't sit right with me. It's like she's putting him on a pedestal or something. 🙅‍♀️ And what's up with this "he was my most important spiritual teacher" thing? Sounds like she's trying to turn their relationship into some kind of spiritual thing, you know? 💔 I'm not saying it's all bad - the woman's got talent and entrepreneurial spirit, but let's keep some perspective here, right? 🤝
