Have you been affected by the 2026 NYC nurses strike?

Thousands of nurses in Manhattan and the Bronx have walked out on strike, leaving hospital staff scrambling to keep up with patient care. The massive walkout, involving nearly 15,000 nurses from three major hospital systems – NewYork-Presbyterian, Mount Sinai Health System, and Montefiore Medical Center – has sent shockwaves through the healthcare industry.

Despite hospital administrators claiming they have mobilized replacement nurses to mitigate the disruption, many are concerned about the impact on patient safety and access to care. With emergency medical services (EMS) also affected by the strike, city officials are closely monitoring the situation, coordinating with hospitals to minimize the effects of the walkout.

The question now is how New Yorkers – patients, caregivers, healthcare workers, and businesses – have been impacted by this labor dispute. Have you or your loved ones experienced reduced access to medical services? Has your business been forced to adapt in response to the strike?

To get a better understanding of the effects on our community, we want to hear from those who have been directly affected by the nurses' strike. Are hospital administrators taking steps to address staffing shortages and ensure patient care remains safe? How are patients being impacted – or not – by the strike?

If you're a healthcare professional or work in EMS, what adjustments have your employer made to respond to the strike? Have you noticed any issues with patient access or quality of care?

Or, if you're an interested bystander, have you experienced any disruption to your business or daily routine due to the strike? We want to know.

For those who want to share their story, we invite you to fill out our online form or contact our healthcare reporter directly. Here's a list of the locations where nurses are currently on strike:

* NewYork-Presbyterian’s Allen Hospital, Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, and Columbia University Irving Medical Center
* Montefiore Medical Center’s Jack D. Weiler Hospital, Henry and Lucy Moses campus, Hutchinson campus, and the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.

This is crazy what's happening with the nurses strike in Manhattan and the Bronx 🤯 I'm from New York so I've felt it firsthand - my grandma has to drive all the way to Brooklyn just to see a doctor because they won't let her visit at Montefiore Medical Center 😩. The replacement nurses are supposed to be trained, but I heard they're not getting the same level of training as the actual nurses 🤔. I'm worried about patient safety - what if something goes wrong and no one is there to help? 🚑💉

I'm really worried about my aunt who's been undergoing treatment for cancer at one of the hospitals affected by the strike 🤕. She had a follow-up appointment yesterday, but it got cancelled due to the lack of staff 👥. I'm sure she's not alone in this, and it's heartbreaking to think that patients are being put at risk because of this labor dispute 😔.

I'm worried about my elderly neighbor who relies heavily on the hospital for her care 🤕. The strike is affecting her daily routine and we're struggling to find alternative solutions 📅. I think hospitals need to prioritize staff safety and find ways to manage their workload better 💼. We can't afford to compromise on patient care ⚕️.

I'm just imaginein' what it's like for those nurses on strike... they're gettin' paid to chill on the couch while their patients are sufferin' 😴♂️. On a serious note, 15k nurses walkin' out at once is crazy talk! I hope hospitals have some solid plans in place to keep patient care safe and access minimal disrupted 🤞. I'm curious to know if anyone's experienced any issues with medical services or had to deal with delayed appointments 🕰️. Maybe we can all just send some virtual coffee and cookies to our nurses on strike ☕👍

omg i'm so worried about my aunt she's been living with diabetes for like 10 yrs now and her doctor is at one of the hospitals that's on strike 🤕😷 we've had to drive all the way uptown just to get her medication and it's causing us so much stress what if they're not getting the care they need meanwhile i'm trying to work from home but my internet keeps dropping because everyone's using it for streaming news about the nurses strike lol is this really happening though?

THE NURSE STRIKE IS LIKE, TOTALLY PANDEMONIUM IN MANHATTAN AND THE BRONX!!! I MEAN, I FEEL SAD FOR ALL THE PATIENTS WHO ARE GETTING WAITING ROOMS AND NOT GETTING THE CARE THEY NEED. AND IT'S NOT JUST THE HOSPITALS, IT'S ALSO THE EMS STAFF WHO ARE ON STRIKE NOW. I HEARD THAT SOME HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATORS ARE TRYING TO FIND REPLACEMENT NURSES, BUT IT'S LIKE, REALLY HARD WHEN YOU'RE SHORT-STAFFED IN A CRITICAL CARE ENVIRONMENT.

I'VE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS STORY AND IT'S LIKE, SO WORRYING FOR PATIENTS WHO NEED URGENT CARE. I KNOW SOMEONE WHO WORKS IN A HOSPITAL AND THEY SAID THAT THE STRIKE IS LIKE, REALLY DISRUPTING THEIR Routines AND MAKING IT HARD FOR THEM TO PROVIDE GOOD CARE.

I THINK IT'S TIME FOR THE HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATORS TO STEP UP AND FIND A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. WE NEED BETTER WORKING CONDITIONS AND COMPENSATION FOR OUR NURSES SO THEY CAN PROVIDE THE BEST CARE POSSIBLE WITHOUT GETTING STRESSED OUT ALL THE TIME!!!

I'm really concerned about the strike and how it's affecting patient care 🤕. As a healthcare worker myself, I can imagine how stressful this must be for everyone involved. I've noticed that some of my colleagues are struggling to keep up with the workload, which is putting extra pressure on them. 😬

Personally, I'm worried about my own mom who has a chronic condition and relies on regular check-ups and treatment 🤝. I hope that hospital administrators can find a way to resolve this issue quickly so we don't have to worry about her care being compromised.

I think it's great that the city officials are keeping an eye on the situation, but I wish there was more communication from hospitals about what they're doing to address staffing shortages and ensure patient safety 🤔.

OMG 🤯 like what's going on with the nurses strike in NYC? I was supposed to meet up with my friend at NYC hospital last week but they cancelled all non-urgent appointments 🤕 I'm really worried about my mum, she has diabetes and relies on her meds daily 💉 I hope hospital staff is doing ok 👩‍⚕️

I heard the hospitals are trying to replace nurses but I don't think that's gonna work 🙅‍♀️ we need actual experienced nurses looking after our loved ones 💕 my brother works in EMS and he said they're having to scramble to keep up with emergencies too 🚑 it's like they want us to suffer 😩

this is crazy what's going on with the nurses strike in manhattan and bronx i work near one of the hospitals that's affected and it's already affecting my business i'm a delivery guy and some of the hospitals aren't taking new deliveries because they're short staffed 🚨💼

idk how this is gonna affect ppl on the street tho? are they gettin a stipend or summin to make up for losin pay while they're out? also, dont know if 15k nurses walkin out at same time is even realistic... probably just some big union tactic 🤑

I'm really worried about what's going on with these nurses striking 🤕. I have an aunt who works in a hospital in Manhattan and she's been telling me that they're doing their best but it's getting super tough 🤞. She said the patients are being poked and prodded by less experienced doctors and nurses because there aren't enough staff members on duty 😟.

I'm also thinking about my mom who has diabetes and she relies on dialysis three times a week 💉. I hope they can get this sorted out ASAP or it'll be chaos 🚨. Anyways, I think the hospital administrators need to step up their game and find ways to address staffing shortages and patient safety 😊. We should all support these amazing nurses who are fighting for better working conditions and fair wages 💪!

OMG u guys I'm literally freaking out rn 🤯! Like I was at the hospital with my sick mom last week & she needed some meds ASAP but they were all like "we can't find anyone" 🙅‍♀️😱 & it was so scary for me as a fan girl of NY-Presbyterian I just know their staff is amazing 💕👩‍⚕️! Now with the strike going on, I'm getting anxiety thinking about my mom's safety 🤝 & how are they gonna make sure all patients get the care they need? 💖 It's not just about the nurses though, it's about the whole system 👀💯 we need answers from the hospital admins ASAP!

OMG, I'm still in shock over this nurse strike 🤯! I work in a non-profit org that provides services to patients with chronic conditions, and we rely heavily on hospitals for care 🏥. The thought of reduced staff and emergency medical services is just scary 😨. We're lucky to have some backup nurses, but I'm worried about how it'll affect our clients who need 24/7 support 💔.

I've had friends with family members in the medical field, and they're all freaked out too 🤷‍♀️. The question is, what's going on behind the scenes? Are hospitals doing enough to address staffing shortages and patient care concerns? I just hope this strike doesn't lead to burnout or turnover for nurses... that's not what we need in healthcare 🙅‍♀️.

I'm curious to hear from others who've been impacted by this strike – have you noticed any disruptions in your daily routine or business operations? 🤔

OMG I'm so worried about all these nurses striking 🤕😬, I have a family member who works in a hospital and they're saying it's super chaotic over there. I feel like our healthcare system is already under so much pressure and now this? It's just not fair to the patients 👎🏻💉. What's up with the hospitals not having enough staff to begin with?! They need to get their act together ASAP 💪🏼, we can't have people going without medical care because of a labor dispute 🤦‍♀️. Anyone know how this is gonna end? 🤔

🤕 I'm getting so worried about the thousands of nurses on strike in Manhattan & the Bronx 🏥😬 They're leaving hospitals with like 1/3 of their staff which is a huge risk to patient care 💉🚑 I've been following this story and it's crazy how hospital admins think they can just replace the nurses with others, but what about the skill and experience? It's not that simple 🤔

As someone who loves their grandma who has cancer, I'm especially concerned about the impact on patients like her 👵🏻💖 If she needs surgery or treatment, will there even be a doctor available to take care of her? 😩 I hope hospital admins are taking this seriously and finding ways to resolve the issue ASAP 🤞

I've also heard that some hospitals have been asking staff to work extra long hours without overtime pay, which is just not fair 💸👎 I feel for the nurses who are already working so hard, they deserve better compensation and respect 🙌

omg I'm so worried about my grandma she has chronic illness and needs constant check ups 😩 she's been saying that her meds aren't being given to her on time rn so I'm like is this strike affecting pharmacies too 🤔 do hospitals have back up systems in place for emergency situations? or are they just winging it?

I'm not sure I buy the whole "replacement nurses" thing 🤔. Like, how many of these replacement nurses are even qualified to handle critical cases? And what's the plan for when they burn out or get tired? Hospital staff already work crazy hours, adding more stress and pressure on them without proper training is just gonna lead to mistakes. I'm also worried about the elderly and vulnerable patients who might not be getting the care they need 🚑. We need to see some real solutions from hospital administrators here, not just PR spin 💼. Where are the numbers? What's the plan for long-term staffing shortages? Let's get some facts, folks! 💡

I'm really worried about what's happening with all these nurses striking... like, 15k of them! 🤯 How can hospitals not have enough staff to take care of patients? I've heard it's because they haven't paid them enough or treated them fairly for a long time. It just doesn't seem right that people are being forced to strike when they're already so exhausted from working in such a stressful job.

I'm trying to imagine how scary it must be for the patients who still need medical attention, but can't get it because of this strike... do you think hospitals have good backup plans in place? I hope they're not just winging it and hoping everything works out...

And what about the EMS services being affected too?! That's a big deal. Have you heard anything about how cities are preparing for emergencies while all these nurses are on strike?

man this nurses strike is a big deal 🤕 its like they're saying we value their work but not our lives lol seriously tho what's up with hospitals not having enough staff? i feel bad for patients who are still getting care somehow, but not having enough people to take care of them is no joke 🚑💊 my aunt works in healthcare and she said it's super stressful on the staff too, plus they're having to work longer hours which is just not right 🤯 have you heard any good stories from ppl who've had to deal with this?
