Halloween Weekend Was One of the Weirdest Ever at the Box Office

Halloween weekend saw a dismal performance at the box office, with no major new films hitting theaters. Instead, several familiar titles took center stage, including animated favorites, a Bruce Springsteen biopic, and even a 40-year-old classic.

At the top of the domestic chart was Netflix's re-release of KPop Demon Hunters, which grossed just over $5 million at AMC Theaters – a far cry from its original $18 million haul. Meanwhile, the only live-action horror film on offer, Black Phone 2, struggled to attract audiences, earning a paltry $8 million in its third week.

As for new releases, none of them managed to break through to the top 10. In fact, three animated films – Chainsaw Man: The Movie, KPop Demon Hunters, and Stitch Head – took up several spots, with Stitch Head's modest earnings of over $2 million being a rare bright spot amidst the disappointing weekend.

Other movies that fared poorly included Bugonia, which grossed just under $5 million, and Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere, which was relegated to #7. Even Keanu Reeves and Seth Rogen's comedy Good Fortune, expected to be a box office hit, found itself in the same position.

The only silver lining was the anniversary re-release of Back to the Future, which managed to eke out $4.7 million at the box office – more than double the earnings of KPop Demon Hunters. Still, it's hard not to wonder what could have been if new films had hit theaters instead of just re-releases and familiar titles.

The overall take from Halloween weekend is that it was a dismal showing for movie fans expecting something new and exciting. With no major releases in sight, theaters must be counting down the days until their next big film hits the market.

Ugh, can't believe how bad this Halloween box office was 🤕! I mean, I love a good re-release every now and then, but when you've got nothing new to look forward to... it's just so meh 😴. And $5 million for that KPop movie? Come on, not even close to what they expected 💸. The only silver lining was Back to the Future, but it's still not like we haven't seen that one a million times before 🕰️. Can't wait for something new and exciting to hit theaters next month, this one was a total snooze fest 😴

Ugh, I'm so done with these re-releases and old movies getting all the attention! Can't we just get some new stuff for a change? Like, what's wrong with studios not taking risks on original films anymore?! It's like they're playing it safe every time... 🤦‍♂️

I mean, I love Bruce Springsteen as much as the next person, but do we really need to watch his biopic again just 'cause it's Halloween? And don't even get me started on Black Phone 2... who thought that was a good idea? 😒

I guess what really gets my goat is when we're stuck with so few options. I mean, three animated films in the top spots? That's not exactly inspiring. Where are all the cool new movies?! 🤔

🎃👻 I'm so done with these re-releases, ya know? It's like they're just milking whatever's left of that old magic from years ago instead of bringing us something new and fresh. And honestly, I mean $5 million for KPop Demon Hunters? That's not even close to the original haul. 🤔

I swear, back in my day, we used to go wild for new movies every Friday. The excitement was palpable! Nowadays, it feels like no one's really taking a chance on anything. It's all just re-releases and familiar faces. I'm waiting for that next big blockbuster to hit theaters, stat! 💥🎬

Ugh, I'm so done with these re-releases! 🤯 Can't we get some fresh content already? It's like they're just phoning it in every year on Halloween weekend... 40-year-old classics getting more attention than new releases is wild. And don't even get me started on Netflix's re-release of KPop Demon Hunters – only grossed $5 million instead of its original haul! What happened to the magic? 🤑

I gotta say, this Halloween weekend was pretty underwhelming at the box office 🎃👀. I mean, you'd think people would be excited for some new movies, but instead we got a bunch of re-releases and oldies making bank 💸. It's like people are just going through the motions, watching what they know and love rather than taking a chance on something fresh 🤔.

I'm curious to know what went wrong with KPop Demon Hunters' re-release - it was supposed to bring in a lot of cash, but only raked in $5 million? 😐 And what's up with the lack of live-action horror films? Black Phone 2 didn't do much better than expected 🎃.

I guess this is just a reminder that sometimes you gotta take a wait-and-see approach to new releases. Maybe we'll get lucky next time and some big hits will come along 💪. Until then, it's more of the same old, same old 🤷‍♂️.

I'm not surprised to see so many oldies but goodies dominating the box office on Halloween weekend 🎃👻. I mean, who doesn't love revisiting some classic favorites? And hey, at least we got a few new animated films like Chainsaw Man and Stitch Head trying to bring some excitement to the table 🤪!

On the bright side, it's awesome that Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters is still raking in some serious cash (even if it's not as much as its original run 🤑). And can you believe Deliver Me From Nowhere made it to #7? Bruce Springsteen fans are celebrating! 💥

I'm also loving the fact that Back to the Future got a re-release and brought in some decent earnings 🎉. It just goes to show that with the right timing, even old movies can still bring in some magic ✨.

So yeah, it was an okay weekend for movies overall... but let's be real, who needs new releases when we've got nostalgia on our side? 😊

🎃 I'm so underwhelmed by this Halloween weekend at the box office! 🤕 Where's the excitement? You'd think a new Bruce Springsteen biopic would bring some buzz, but Deliver Me From Nowhere is stuck at #7? 😬 And don't even get me started on KPop Demon Hunters – I mean, it re-released for $5 million? That's just sad 🎶. Even the anniversary re-release of Back to the Future couldn't save this one... just goes to show that sometimes you can't recreate magic 💫.

Ugh 🤕 another box office bombshell! 🎥 I mean what's up with these re-releases? Can't they come up with something fresh for once? 🙄 Like, Deliver Me From Nowhere just got squished by some old classic... 😒 and Keanu Reeves' comedy is tanking too?! 🤦‍♂️ At least Back to the Future's anniversary re-release brought in some dough, but not enough to make it a silver lining 🌕. I'm so over this lackluster Halloween weekend 🎃👻. Next thing you know, we'll be stuck with more of these same old tired movies 🍿😴

man this halloween weekend at the box office was such a letdown 🎃😔 i mean, where's the excitement? it feels like we're stuck on repeat with these old familiar titles instead of something new and fresh outta the gate 🔄. kpop demon hunters is still raking in some decent cash but only compared to its original run, not exactly setting the world on fire 🔥. and don't even get me started on black phone 2, that's just sad 😔. i'm counting down the days until something new drops, it feels like we're stuck in a movie drought 🎬💦.

Ugh, what's up with this Halloween box office? 🤦‍♀️ I'm not surprised to see all these re-releases doing so well, tbh. People just love revisiting old faves, but when are we gonna get some fresh content in theaters? 🎬 It's like they're playing it safe and relying on nostalgia instead of taking a chance on something new. And don't even get me started on the prices – $18 million for KPop Demon Hunters back in 2023 was insane! 💸 Now, it's just a fraction of that. I'm all about supporting indie films and creatives, but this is getting ridiculous. 🤔 Can we please have some original content to look forward to? 🎉

🎥📉 It's a shame when the box office is all about re-releases and oldies. Where's the excitement for new stories? 😐 New films deserve some love, you know? Just a few bucks won't cut it either 🤑. Maybe theaters should try something different or offer better deals to attract more viewers 👀

🎃🍿 Man, what a bummer! I mean, I love re-releases of old faves as much as the next guy, but you'd think we'd have some new heat by now. Keanu and Seth's comedy didn't exactly set the world on fire, and it's like they just phoned it in 🤔. And don't even get me started on the lack of original horror films – it's like the genre just gave up for the season 😳. I'm all for some good ol' fashioned Halloween fun, but you gotta give me something to get excited about, ya know? 🎃👻

omg, like, what's going on with new movies?! 🤔 it's all re-releases and old favorites instead of anything fresh? i was super stoked for some new horror flicks but nope, Black Phone 2 barely scraped by 🤑 meanwhile, Keanu Reeves and Seth Rogen's movie is stuck at #7... what happened to original releases?! did we just get bored with going to the cinema? 🎥 and btw, why do theaters always keep re-releasing old classics like Back to the Future? didn't we see that one last year too? 🤷‍♀️

Man, what's goin' on with these box office numbers 🤯? I mean, I'm glad that Back to the Future anniversary re-release did alright, but it's just not the same as seein' some new flicks come out 🎥. It's like, we've been stuck in this rut of familiar titles and re-releases for a while now 📚. I know studios are still playin' it safe with their releases, but I wish they'd take more risks sometimes 💸. And what's up with the lack of live-action horror films? That Black Phone 2 thing just seems to be coastin' on its popularity from the first one 👻. Anyway, can't wait for some new movies to hit the theaters and shake things up 🎬.

omg what's wrong with people these days? can't we get excited about anything new anymore? i mean, come on, a Bruce Springsteen biopic? that's just lazy entertainment 🙄 and don't even get me started on Keanu Reeves and Seth Rogen's comedy... good fortune? more like "good waste of my hard-earned cash" 😒 and btw, who thought it was a good idea to re-release Back to the Future for its anniversary? that's just desperate 🤦‍♂️.

omg can u believe how low box office numbers r this halloween wknd? i mean, i got my fave Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere @ #7 tho 🎉🎶 at least that one was a silver lining in an otherwise dull weekend 😒 btw, who gets the 40 yr old classic spot tho? like, what even happened to original movies anymore? just re-releases and familiar titles all over the place 👀

🎃️ I mean, what's the deal with all these re-releases? It feels like they're just milking the classics for more cash instead of giving us something fresh to watch. I went to see Back to the Future again last weekend and it was still awesome, but come on, can't we get some new stuff too?! 🤔 I saw Stitch Head and it was actually pretty cool, but it's not enough to make up for the lack of new movies. And Keanu Reeves' movie... yeah, that was a letdown. 😐 At least Bugonia wasn't terrible, but still... I'm all about trying out new films and discovering hidden gems, not just re-watching old favorites. 🎥👀

I'm so over this Halloween weekend box office performance 🤦‍♂️. I mean, where's the excitement when all we get are re-releases and oldies? It's like they're just phoning it in at this point. And what's up with KPop Demon Hunters making so little money? I know it's a classic, but c'mon, $5 million is crazy low 🤑. The only good news is that Back to the Future brought home some decent cash, but still...I want to see some new faces on the big screen ASAP 🎥. Can't we just have one blockbuster hit this year? It's been a slow season so far and I'm getting a little bored 😴.
