Golden Globes 2026: Full list of winners

Several unexpected winners took home the top prize at this year's Golden Globes, including Chloe Zhao's drama "Hamnet," which took the Best Picture award in the Drama category. The film also earned Jessie Buckley a Best Actress win for her portrayal of Ophelia.

Zhao was visibly shaken by her win and gave a heartfelt speech praising fellow filmmaker Ryan Coogler, whom she credits with helping her improve as an artist during their time together at Sundance Labs. Coogler had been expected to win the award but ultimately took home Best Director for his work on vampire thriller "Sinners."

The musical comedy category saw Paul Thomas Anderson's "One Battle After Another" take home the top prize, marking a major upset in the industry. The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn, who both received nominations.

Anderson also earned the award for Best Screenplay for his work on the film. In her acceptance speech, Zhao expressed gratitude to Coogler, saying "As students, let's keep our hearts open and let's keep seeing each other and allowing each other to be seen."

Other notable winners included Ryan Coogler for Best Director for "Sinners," TimothΓ©e Chalamet for his performance in the musical comedy film "Marty Supreme," Owen Cooper for supporting actor in "Adolescence," and Seth Rogen for his role as a musician in the TV series "The Studio."

OMG I'M SO HAPPY FOR CHLOE ZHAO SHE'S A TOTAL UNDERDOG AND HER MOVIE HAMNET IS LIKE WHOA I LOVED IT!!! πŸŽ₯πŸ‘ AND RYAN COOGLER DESERVES THE BEST DIRECTOR AWARD FOR HIS WORK ON SINNERS TOO HE'S SUCH AN INSPIRING FILMMAKER AND CHLOE'S SPEECH WAS SO BEAUTIFUL πŸ’– IT'S AMAZING TO SEE SUCH TALENTED PEOPLE WINNING AND I LOVE THAT SHE CREDITED COOGLER WITH HELPING HER GROW AS AN ARTIST 🀩

omg I'm so stoked for Chloe Zhao! shes got a major award and all πŸŽ‰πŸ‘ her speech was so inspiring, like she's speaking straight to my soul. I love how she gave props to Ryan Coogler, he's def a talented filmmaker. the musical comedy category tho, I didnt see that one coming! Paul Thomas Anderson is like a genius or something 🀯 his film "One Battle After Another" sounds soooo good. and can we talk about Jessie Buckley's acting skills? she's got major talent πŸ’β€β™€οΈπŸŽ

I mean, come on... Chloe Zhao's win is actually super unexpected, lol 🀣. I was expecting it to be one of those big-name directors like Quentin Tarantino or Martin Scorsese, but nope! It's some indie drama film with a really talented actress who just happened to get lucky πŸ˜….

And what's up with Ryan Coogler winning Best Director? Like, he's already an accomplished filmmaker and all, so it's not exactly a surprise. I mean, I still love his work, don't get me wrong πŸ€—... but can't the Academy just give him this award next year and save everyone the suspense?

I'm also kinda surprised that Paul Thomas Anderson won Best Screenplay for that musical comedy film. I've seen reviews of it and they were pretty mixed on how funny it was 😐. Guess you never know what the voters are gonna choose though... oh well, more screenplays to read πŸ“š!

idk why the winners this year are so surprising, like didn't anyone else see chloe zhao's hamnet coming? πŸ˜’ but I guess you can never count out ryan coogler - he's always been one to slay it. I mean, who wouldn't want to be directed by him? his speech was pretty heartfelt, though. and paul thomas anderson's win for one battle after another is just... i don't know, maybe I'm just not in the mood for musical comedies right now 🎡. on the bright side, we finally got some deserving recognition for leo di caprio and sean penn, even if it was just for being good sports about losing to paul thomas again πŸ˜‚.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this year's Golden Globes. I mean, Chloe Zhao just came out of nowhere and wins Best Picture? It's like, what even happened? And then Ryan Coogler has to give a speech about how grateful he is to Zhao for improving as an artist... it's all very sweet, but also kinda awkward because we know Coogler was expecting that win himself 😊. And can we talk about Paul Thomas Anderson winning Best Screenplay with "One Battle After Another"? That movie is like 10 hours long and I'd rather watch paint dry 🎨. On the other hand, I'm happy for Jessie Buckley's win - her performance in "Hamnet" was so hauntingly beautiful πŸ‘». Anyway, it's just one of those years where things don't quite add up, but hey, at least it made for some interesting awards season drama 🀯.

omg I'm totes surprised by that movie Hamnet winning Best Picture 🀯πŸŽ₯!!! Chloe Zhao is so talented and I love how she gave a shoutout to Ryan Coogler πŸ’•πŸ‘. And can we talk about Paul Thomas Anderson's film "One Battle After Another"?! I mean, Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn are like legends πŸ™ŒπŸ‘Š. But what's even better is that TimothΓ©e Chalamet won for Marty Supreme πŸŽΈπŸ‘. It's so cool to see all these talented actors and directors getting recognized 🀝. And Seth Rogen winning for The Studio? Yaaas, he's hilarious πŸ˜‚πŸ“Ί! Overall, it was such a great night for the film industry πŸ’«πŸŒŸ.

OMG, I'm so surprised by Chloe Zhao's win! I mean, I've seen some epic movies this year, but "Hamnet" really stood out to me 🀯. Jessie Buckley's performance was insane, and it's not every day you see an actress get the Best Actress award without even getting a nomination πŸ˜‚.

And can we talk about Ryan Coogler for a sec? He's my spirit animal when it comes to representation in Hollywood πŸ™Œ. Giving all those shoutouts to his peers during his acceptance speech was so inspiring. I'm literally hyped for him, and I hope he gets the recognition he deserves in the future πŸ’ͺ.

I don't even know how Paul Thomas Anderson pulled off that musical comedy win... "One Battle After Another" was such an underrated gem 🎡. And the cast of Leo and Sean Penn? Goals 🀩. Can we get a sequel to this film, please?!

omg can you believe the upsets at the Golden Globes ??! i mean, chloe zhao's win is amazing but ryan coogler was def expected to take home that director award 🀯 and sinners was supposed to be a dark horse contender 😎. paul thomas anderson's victory in musical comedy tho... i love a good underdog story πŸŽ‰! it's all about keeping the hearts open and seeing each other on screen, am i right? ❀️

anyway, gotta say, zhao's speech gave me all the feels ❀️ she spoke from the heart and acknowledged coogler's influence on her work. and let's be real, sinners' vampire thrills didn't seem to give it up 🍴... anyway, congrats to all the winners! here's a little diagram to celebrate πŸŽ‰

omg can you believe who won at the golden globes? 🀯 i was on the edge of my seat when Chloe Zhao took home best picture! she was totally deserving, her film hamnet is so emotional and powerful πŸ’”. and ryan coogler's win for best director is a great reminder that there's still room for new talent in the industry πŸ‘. paul thomas anderson taking the musical comedy category by surprise though? yeah no one saw that coming 🀣. what did you think of the winners this year?

omg what a night 🀩! i mean, i love it when unexpected winners take home the prize, it's so refreshing to see some new faces shine πŸ’«. chloe zhao's win is like, totally deserved πŸ™Œ, she gave such an amazing speech too πŸ™. and ryan coogler giving credit to his fellow filmmaker is just so classy 😊. i also loved how zhao said those lines about keeping our hearts open and seeing each other - it's all about the community and supporting each other πŸ’•.

lol what just happened at the Golden Globes? I mean i thought it was gonna be all about Coogler but nope, Zhao snatchin that Best Picture award! πŸ€―πŸŽ‰ i love how she gave credit to Coogler tho, really inspiring to see artists supportin each other like that. And omg Paul Thomas Anderson's "One Battle After Another" taking down musical comedy? major upset for sure! πŸ˜‚ but congrats to the winners, it was a wild night! πŸ‘

πŸŽ‰πŸ’₯ just wow! 🀯 Chloe Zhao's win is like a dream come true πŸ’«, and her speech was so sweet 😊. I love how she gave shoutout to Ryan Coogler πŸ‘, they're like two peas in a pod 🌱. And omg, Paul Thomas Anderson winning Best Screenplay 🎬? That's like a major upset 🀯! Leo and Sean Penn are gonna be so happy πŸ˜„ with their nomination. πŸŽ‰πŸ‘ TimothΓ©e Chalamet is on fire πŸ”₯, his performance in "Marty Supreme" must've been epic 🎭. And congrats to Seth Rogen for his role in "The Studio" 🎀, he's a talented dude πŸ™Œ!

I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE CHLOE ZHAO TAKE HOME THE BEST PICTURE AWARD FOR HAMNET!!! SHE WAS COMPLETELY SHAKEN BY HER WIN AND HER SPEECH WAS SO HEARTFELT AND GRATEFUL. I LOVE THAT SHE GAVE CREDIT TO RYAN COOGLER FOR HELPING HER IMPROVE AS AN ARTIST - IT'S AMAZING HOW THESE FILMMAKERS SUPPORT EACH OTHER AND ELEVATE EACH OTHER'S WORK! πŸŽ₯πŸ‘

idk why they even have a category for "drama" anymore πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ it's like, what's the diff between "drama" and regular ol' movie? but hey, congrats to Chloe Zhao and Jessie Buckley, i guess 😊. Ryan Coogler's been on fire lately, no surprise he took home Best Director. I'm not surprised Paul Thomas Anderson won in musical comedy tho 🀣, his dad jokes are basically plot devices now. anyway, congrats to everyone who won, might be time for me to update my watchlist πŸ˜‰

I'm totally stoked about how the Golden Globes went down this year! I mean, Chloe Zhao's win is like, wow. She's been making waves with her film "Hamnet" and it's so satisfying to see her get recognized. And can we talk about Ryan Coogler? He's always been a hero of mine. His speech was so beautiful, talking about how Zhao inspired him as an artist. It's like, really cool to see people uplift each other in this industry.

And omg, Paul Thomas Anderson winning Best Screenplay for "One Battle After Another" is like, total surprise! I loved that movie too! But you know who got snubbed? Daniel Craig πŸ€”. Anyway, I'm just so happy for the winners and I love how Zhao's speech was all about spreading positivity and keeping it real. It's like, we need more of that in Hollywood πŸ’–. And can't wait to see what they're working on next!

idk why ppl are surprised about the winners, Chloe Zhao was lowkey robbed of the director award πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. But congrats to her and Ryan Coogler on their wins! Coogler's speech made me feel all the feels ❀️. Paul Thomas Anderson's win is a major upset tho, I didn't think "One Battle After Another" had a chance πŸ˜‚. But Leo & Sean Penn are talented, no doubt about that πŸ™Œ. And can we talk about TimothΓ©e Chalamet's acting skills? He's on fire πŸ”₯. Also, congrats to Seth Rogen for his role in "The Studio", I've been meaning to check out that show πŸ“Ί. Overall, it was a great night for indie films and talented actors 🎬.

OMG, I'm still reeling from that Golden Globes drama 🀯! Chloe Zhao's win for "Hamnet" was like, totally unexpected, but she totally deserved it πŸ’–. And Ryan Coogler's loss for Best Director stings, but he killed it with "Sinners" anyway πŸ‘». That musical comedy category is a wild card, I love how Paul Thomas Anderson snuck in an upset with "One Battle After Another" πŸŽ‰. Jessie Buckley's win for Ophelia is giving me all the feels, she's so talented πŸ’ͺ. And can we talk about Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn's chemistry in that film? It's like they were born to play those roles 🀝. I'm also loving Seth Rogen's win for "The Studio", he's always been a comedy genius πŸ˜‚. The speech at the end, though... Zhao's words of encouragement to her fellow artists resonated so deeply with me ❀️.

Man, I'm still trying to wrap my head around this year's Golden Globes. I mean, Chloe Zhao taking home Best Picture for her drama about Shakespeare's Hamnet is like something out of a dream πŸŒ™. But what really got me was Ryan Coogler getting snubbed in the director category for Sinners... I guess you could say he won indirectly by helping Zhao grow as an artist 🀝.

And can we talk about Paul Thomas Anderson's "One Battle After Another" taking home that award? It's like, what even is this film? πŸ˜‚ I mean, it's got Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn in it, but that's about where the excitement ends. Still, credit to Anderson for keeping his heart open (literally) as Zhao said during her speech πŸ’–.

It's funny how these awards can be all over the place sometimes. You never know what's gonna happen until it happens πŸŽ‰. Anyways, congrats to all the winners! I guess this means my "Best of the 90s" list is due for an update 😜.
