Full SNAP benefits going out starting Friday as shutdown ends, Illinois officials say

I'm glad the government shutdown is finally over 🙏. It's crazy that people had to go without full benefits for weeks. Like, who plans a two-month shutdown, right? 😂 I feel bad for Clinton Weeks, having to live off potato chips for months... that's just not okay.

But on a more serious note, it's awesome that community groups and restaurants are stepping up to help those in need 🤝. Nearly 30 restaurants offering free or discounted meals is amazing! It shows that even during tough times, people can come together and make a difference ❤️.

However, I do have some reservations about the upcoming changes to the program 🤔. Expanded work requirements for parents of teenagers could put a lot of stress on families. Like, how are they supposed to balance work with taking care of their kids? 🤷‍♀️ And reduced exemptions under the new bill might affect people who already struggle to make ends meet.

Still, I'm hopeful that officials will work hard to rebuild trust in the SNAP program and ensure that everyone gets the help they need 💪. Fingers crossed! 👍
