Fabio Borini: Salford City forward says 'it's an addiction' as FA Cup awaits

Fabio Borini has revealed that his continued career in football is an 'addiction' as he gears up for the FA Cup with Salford City.

The 37-year-old forward, who recently joined the League Two side following his departure from Sampdoria, spoke candidly about what drives him to keep playing despite his advanced age.

"I've been fortunate enough to have had a great career so far, but I think it's an addiction," Borini said. "When you're on the pitch, you forget about everything else - your age, your injuries, all that stuff just goes away. For me, it's about being in the moment and enjoying every second of it."

Borini's admission comes as Salford City prepare to face their opponents in the FA Cup. The veteran forward is expected to play a key role in the game, given his extensive experience at both club and international level.

Despite facing criticism from some quarters about his continued playing career, Borini remains committed to his craft. He has consistently demonstrated his ability to adapt to different environments and teammates throughout his illustrious career.

"I know that not everyone will understand why I'm still playing at this stage of my life," he said. "But for me, it's about the love of the game and the desire to keep performing at the highest level. As long as I can contribute to Salford City and help them achieve their goals, then I'll keep going."

Borini's comments offer a glimpse into the mind of one of football's most dedicated professionals. Love for the game or an addiction? Whatever it is, Borini remains a force to be reckoned with in League Two.

OMG, can you believe this dude is 37 and still running around on the pitch like a spring chicken 🤣💨! I mean, I get why he'd wanna keep playing - the thrill of competition, the rush of adrenaline... it's all real, fam 😂. And honestly, who are we to judge? He's having the time of his life out there, and that's what matters most ⏀️. The fact that he can still bring value to Salford City is a testament to his dedication & work ethic 💪. I'm all for it - more experienced players like Borini keeping the game fresh 🌟!

I think Fabio Borini is living proof that age is just a number 🙌💪 in sports, especially football. I mean, 37 is still pretty young, and he's got the passion and drive to keep going. It's like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, you know, always saying 'it doesn't matter what your age is' - it's all about the mental game, right? 😎 Borini's got that same fire in his belly, and I love it! He's a legend on the pitch, and I'm sure he'll inspire a lot of young players out there to keep pushing themselves. And let's be real, who wouldn't want to be 'addicted' to something as amazing as football? 🏆

I gotta say, Fabio Borini's been playing football for like, what feels like forever 🤯...and he still gets that fire in his belly? I get it, love for the game is real, but addiction? I think that's just a fancy way of saying he can't quit 😂. Either way, 37 and still crushing it? I'd love to see him take on someone half his age! Salford City better be ready for a show 🎩

idk how old you gotta be to just give up on your passion tho 37 and still grinding like that's kinda inspiring lol fabio's definitely not over the hill he's more like "still got this" 💪🏽 salford city better bring their a-game 'cause borini's gonna light it up on the pitch 😎
