Disney names theme parks boss Josh D’Amaro as its new CEO

Disney has named Josh D'Amaro, its current head of global theme parks and experiences, as the new CEO, ending Bob Iger's tenure after his handpicked successor was ousted.

The Disney board voted unanimously to elevate D'Amaro, 54, who will take over on March 18, 2026. This decision marks a change in leadership for the entertainment giant, with D'Amaro replacing Iger as CEO at its annual meeting.

D'Amaro has been instrumental in expanding Disney's theme park operations and overseeing the company's resort businesses globally. His appointment comes after Bob Chapek was ousted as CEO in 2022.

As part of the shake-up, Dana Walden, co-chair of Disney Entertainment, will take on a newly created role as president and chief creative officer, reporting directly to D'Amaro. This new position will oversee storytelling and creative strategy across the company.

Iger will remain on Disney's board but will serve as a senior adviser until his retirement on December 31, 2026.

The move comes after Iger had previously stepped down from the CEO role in 2018 but returned to lead the company. Chapek was ultimately ousted and replaced by Bob Iger.

omg, can't believe d'amaro is the new ceo!!! 🤯 he's been killing it as head of global theme parks and experiences, and i think this is a great move for disney. i mean, who else could take over such a massive company? 🤑 i'm curious to see how he'll expand disney's operations and create more magic for their fans.

so, d'amaro will be in charge from march 18, 2026, and it looks like bob iger is passing the torch... sort of. he's still on the board, but not as ceo anymore 🤝 that's cool, i guess. dan Walden is getting a new role tho - president and chief creative officer! 🎬 what does this mean for disney's storytelling and creative strategy? 🤔 we'll just have to wait and see.

anyway, disney fans rejoice! d'amaro is taking the helm, and i'm hyped to see what they come up with next 💫

You know what's crazy about this whole thing? It's like the American Dream, right? One guy gets promoted, then gets pushed out, and then another guy comes in and gets promoted... only to get pushed out too! 😂 It's like a never-ending cycle of power struggles in the corporate world.

But seriously though, what does it say about our society that we're so used to seeing CEOs come and go? Doesn't it just feel like business as usual? Meanwhile, people are still struggling to make ends meet, and Disney's got its new CEO. It's like, where's the accountability for all the changes in leadership?

And what's with the new role Dana Walden is getting? Is this just a way for the company to say they're committed to creativity and storytelling? Or is it just a way to keep the creative types under control? Either way, I'm not sure if it's a good thing. 🤔

🤔 Come on, guys! Can't we just have a decent voting system on here? Like, literally any member of the board can just decide on someone without even bothering to hold a proper election? 🙄 I mean, I'm not saying Josh D'Amaro isn't qualified or whatever, but it's still kinda fishy that he's getting voted in unanimously. Did they even poll anyone outside of their inner circle?! 🤷‍♂️ And now Bob Iger's just gonna fade away like a ghost? That doesn't even make sense! 😒 Dana Walden taking on a new role, eh... more executive nonsense for us to keep track of, I'm sure. 📊

omg u guys i cant even bleeve what just happend at disney!!! 😱 so like bob iger is finally done as ceo and josh d'amaro is taking over 🤩 its gonna be intresting to see how he does lol i mean dont get me wrong im all for the change but bob was like my idol lol now that josh is in charge idk if its a good thing or not 😂 but one thing thats def gonna happen is disney theme parks are gonna get even more lit 💥 i mean have u seen the hollywood studios? it needs more marvel stuff fam 🤪

So Josh D'Amaro is taking over as Disney's new CEO, eh 🤔? He's been doing a pretty good job with the theme parks and resorts, so I guess it's no surprise he got the top spot 😊. But what's up with all these changes in leadership? It feels like they're trying to shake things up after Bob Chapek was ousted... not that anyone really knew what was going on anyway 🙃. Anyway, I'm curious to see how D'Amaro will handle being CEO - will he be able to keep the magic of Disney alive for us theme park fans? 🎢👀

So I'm thinking, what's up with all these changes at Disney? It's like they're trying to shake things up, you know? Josh D'Amaro seems like a solid pick, he's been doing some great work with the theme parks and resorts. But I'm a bit surprised that Bob Chapek got the axe after only 2022. You'd think he would have had more time to settle in.

And now Dana Walden is taking on this new role as president and chief creative officer... that's some interesting news! It'll be cool to see how she brings storytelling and creativity back into the mix. I'm curious to see how D'Amaro will lead the company forward with her at the helm.

Iger, still on the board but as a senior adviser... seems like he's not done with Disney just yet 🤔. Guess we'll have to wait and see what 2026 brings for this new leadership team 💥

I'm not surprised, you know? I mean, change is always good, right? 😊 D'Amaro's been doing a great job expanding Disney's theme parks and resorts, so it's only fitting that he gets the top spot. And on the bright side, this means more creative people like Dana Walden will be in charge of storytelling and strategy - can't wait to see what new ideas come out of there! 💡 Plus, Iger's still got a role on the board, which is awesome - he must be staying involved in some capacity. And who knows, maybe this is just what Disney needed to shake things up a bit after Chapek left... 🤔

😊 OMG, can you even?! Josh D'Amaro is literally going to be the new head honcho at Disney!!! I'm beyond excited for him! He's been crushing it in the theme park game for years, and I just know he's gonna bring so much magic to the table as CEO. 🎉💫 And can we talk about Dana Walden taking on that creative role? Game changer, girl! 💁‍♀️ I love how Disney is shaking things up and putting their talented ladies in charge. It's a total win-win for all of us Disney fans! 🤩

I'm kinda surprised about this turn of events 😊. Josh D'Amaro seemed like a solid choice for the job, but I thought Bob Iger would stick around longer. Still, good luck to him, he's gotta make some changes if Disney wants to stay on top 🤞. The new role for Dana Walden sounds interesting, hope she can shake things up around here 💡. Guess we'll have to see how this all plays out, March 18th can't come soon enough 🕰️.

🤔 thinkin bout dis new ceo thingy... its like how empires rise and fall, ya know? D'Amaro's been makin moves behind the scenes for a hot sec, expandin' theme park ops and whatnot, but then suddenly hes the man in charge 🤑. i mean, it's all good, but can't help wonder if dis shake-up was just a reorg to keep things fresh or if its somethin deeper goin on... like, is it time for a new vision or just the usual game of musical chairs? and whats with Iger stayin on as a board member? is he tryna keep an ear to the ground or just enjoy the golden years 🙏

omg what's going on at Disney 🤯! so bob iger is finally out as ceo and i'm kinda surprised it took this long considering everything that went down with bob chapek. but to be fair, josh d'amaro has been doing a great job leading the global theme parks and experiences division, so maybe he's the right guy for the job? 🤔

i love how they're shaking things up with dana walden taking on this new role as president and chief creative officer tho! it's like she's getting her own show 💁‍♀️ (just kidding, kinda). but seriously, i think this could be a great opportunity for disney to focus more on storytelling and creative strategy. maybe we'll see some amazing projects come out of this?

anyway, i'm curious to see how josh d'amaro's leadership style will compare to bob iger's, and if he can bring in even more magic to the disney kingdom ✨. one thing's for sure, it's gonna be interesting to watch! 🎥

🤔 i'm low-key surprised they didn't go for a female ceo, considering how much money d'Amaro's wife must be making 🤑 and he's just gonna bring in another dude to run things... it feels like the same old boys club 😒 plus, have you seen d'Amaro's resume? it's all about them theme park expansions and not much on innovation or taking risks... he's probably more worried about keeping those ticket prices up 💸 than pushing the boundaries of what disney can do 🎢

🤔 So they're making a change again at Disney 🎉. Josh D'Amaro is taking over as CEO, which is interesting because I thought he was just in charge of theme parks 🏰. But apparently that's not enough for the company! They want someone to be in charge overall now 💸. I'm curious about what Dana Walden's new role will look like - does this mean more creative stuff behind the scenes or will it affect how they make movies and TV shows? 🎬 And why is Bob Chapek out of the picture? Did he not do a good job or did the company just decide to change direction? 🤷‍♂️

😊 just saw this news about Disney's new CEO and I gotta say, I'm a bit surprised but not totally shocked. Josh D'Amaro has been doing some amazing work with the theme parks and I think he's got the skills to take on the big cheese role 🤝. It's interesting that Bob Iger is stepping down for good this time around, after being brought back from retirement... maybe it was just getting old? 💁‍♀️ either way, I'm excited to see what Dana Walden brings to her new role as president and creative officer 🎨. Bring on the change! 👏

man i'm kinda surprised about this switch lol 👀 it's like they're turning over a new leaf or something... josh d'amaro seems like a solid choice tho, he's been with disney for ages and has done some awesome stuff with the theme parks 🎢 i mean, the man knows his way around a mouse ear headband 💪 but what about bob iger's legacy? he was supposed to be the big cheese after chapek got canned 🤷‍♂️ anyway, it'll be interesting to see how d'amaro shakes things up... maybe they'll bring back some of that old magic ✨

omg i cant believe bob iger is done 🤯 he's been like the face of disney for so long 😊 and now josh d'amaro takes over 🎢 i'm curious to see how he'll run things at theme parks, he seems to have expanded operations a lot already 👍 it's also weird that bob chapek got ousted 🤔 i mean who gets taken out like that? 💥 anyway, dana walden getting her own role is cool too, i love how disney's all about the creatives now 🎨📺

🎉 so disney is shakin things up again! they're goin with josh d'amaro as the new ceo 🤔 i gotta say, i'm a lil curious about this move... d'amaro's done a great job expandin the theme park ops and resort biz globally, but has he got the creative touch to balance that out? 🎨

anywayz, it's all comin together now with bob iger stepping down in march 2026 💪 i can see the disney empire gettin all sorts of organized with d'amaro at the helm 👑 and walden takin on a new creative role is gonna be sick 🤩

can't wait to see how this all plays out... stay tuned, fam! 📺
