Philadelphia's nightlife just got a whole lot more astronomical as The Franklin Institute is transformed into an out-of-this-world cocktail party with its latest 'Science After Hours: Celestial Sips' event. Next month on December 5, the museum will be abuzz with grown-ups who are eager to combine their love for science and socializing under the stars.
From 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm, guests can indulge in expertly crafted cocktails from local distilleries while stargazing through telescopes on the rooftop deck. The evening's festivities will be led by chief astronomer Derrick Pitts and musician Keegan Tawa as they guide planetarium shows about the celestial bodies above. Meanwhile, DJ Bobby Flowers will keep the crowd entertained with a soundtrack inspired by the Harlem Renaissance.
In addition to the stellar entertainment, hands-on demos from local institutions like the Monell Chemical Senses Center and Penn Soft Earth Dynamics Lab will add an educational twist to the event. The trivia group Facts Machine will also host a science-themed game show to keep things lively. Even Wissahickon Brewing Co. has created a special beer in honor of the occasion.
Tickets for this celestial soiree are priced at $40, with discounts available for members. A limited number of attendees must be 21 years old and above, but feel free to add some sparkle to your outfit to fit the astronomical theme.
The event will take place on December 5 from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm at The Franklin Institute, located at 222 N 20th Street in Philadelphia. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to combine science, socializing, and stargazing – get your tickets now!
