A 29-year-old Brooklyn man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly pushing a 72-year-old man onto a moving subway train in the Bronx on New Year's Day. Anton Aleshin, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment and was denied bail.
The attack occurred at the 161st Street-Yankee Stadium station around 3:30 am when the victim was pushed into a southbound 4 train arriving at the platform. The elderly man sustained head cuts and lost consciousness before being taken to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.
Aleshin, who was arrested approximately 20 minutes after the incident, is also facing assault charges. Authorities reviewed surveillance footage and interviewed witnesses, including the defendant, as part of their investigation. Aleshin's lawyer has yet to comment on his behalf.
