Bears' Ben Johnson not concerned about info sharing between Packers' Matt LaFleur and Rams

Ben Johnson not concerned about info sharing with Rams' Matt LaFleur, Sean McVay ahead of Sunday's matchup.

Bears head coach Ben Johnson is taking a pragmatic approach to his upcoming game against the Los Angeles Rams, where he'll face off against one of his former colleagues, Packers coach Matt LaFleur. While LaFleur and Bears general manager Sean McVay are close friends, with McVay's brother Mike serving as the team's offensive coordinator, Johnson remains unfazed about potential information sharing between the two coaching circles.

"It happens anyway," Johnson said. "That's this league in general. I think every week everyone tries to share what they had from the week before with your next opponent. I think that's common practice. That's something that you just keep on doing."

The Bears and Rams are set to meet for the first time this season, with McVay's team looking to bounce back from a tough loss last weekend. LaFleur will bring his experience as Packers head coach into the game, but Johnson is focused on his own team's preparation.

"We watch the tape," LaFleur said earlier in the week, when asked if he and McVay had spoken about strategy. "We do our work, and Matt is a very close friend of mine."

Despite the lack of information sharing concerns, Johnson acknowledged that his team has been preparing for the Rams' high-powered offense all week.

"We've been studying their game plan, trying to anticipate what they'll bring," he said. "But you can never be too prepared. We're looking forward to the challenge."

The Bears and Rams are scheduled to meet on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles, with kickoff set for 1:05 PM CT.

πŸ€” I think it's crazy how much emphasis is put on coaches sharing info these days... like what's wrong with just preparing your own game plan? 🏈 I mean Ben Johnson makes some good points, but at the same time, isn't there a way to keep that stuff private and still get an edge on your opponent? πŸ’‘ It's all about balance, you know? And let's be real, both teams are gonna come out strong regardless of who knows what about the other team. 🏈πŸ’ͺ

I'm kinda surprised Ben Johnson isn't getting all worked up about info sharing with his buddy Matt LaFleur πŸ€”. I mean, they're close friends and stuff, but you'd think the Bears might wanna keep some secrets under their hat before facing off against the Rams 🏈. Still, gotta respect Ben's pragmatic approach - he knows this is the NFL and strategy sharing is kinda like water 🌊. Bring it on Sunday!

man i just had the craziest thought lol what if we could have a video game tournament where every player is also a real-life coach? like can you imagine ben johnson vs matt lafleur in madden? 🀣 and the best part is, sean mcvay would be like the ultimate gaming sidekick, always cheering him on from the sidelines. πŸ˜‚ also, have you seen those new madden updates? they made the quarterback throw even more realistic... 🀯

I think it's kinda crazy that Ben Johnson is so chill about info sharing between teams πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Like, I get where he's coming from, it's just the way the game goes now... but at the same time, you'd think some caution would be taken when dealing with ex-colleagues and close friends? 😏 But hey, to each their own, right? 🀯

I don't get it why ppl still worry about info sharing between coaches? πŸ€” It's just part of the game, right? Every week they gotta analyze what happened last time and adjust their strategy. I mean, LaFleur's experience as Packers coach is gonna be super helpful for him against his old buddies in LA 🏈πŸ’ͺ What's more surprising is that McVay's still being so tight-lipped about it... maybe he's trying to keep them guessing? Either way, can't wait for the game on Sunday! πŸ˜ƒ

I don't know how others do it but I feel like NFL teams always try to one up each other when it comes to info sharing. Like, Ben Johnson is saying "it happens anyway" but I'm sure Sean McVay's brother Mike is whispering in his ear all week long πŸ€«β€β™‚οΈ. Meanwhile, Matt LaFleur is gonna come out swinging with the Packers' playbook and we'll see how much prep time the Bears actually put into it 🏈πŸ’ͺ. Bring it on! Sunday afternoon can't come soon enough ⏰.

πŸ€” so like whats up with info sharing in football? cant just share strategies with ur ex team mates lol πŸ™„ is it always like this or did matt lafleur just happen to know sean mcvay and his fam?

idk man, its kinda weird that ben johnson isnt worried about sharing info. didnt they used to work together somewhere? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ and what if rams do share some info with bears? does it make a difference in the game?

anyway, sounds like bears are all about being prepared for sunday's matchup. 🏈 gotta respect ben johnson's pragmatic approach πŸ™

I'm thinking, like, what's the real concern here? πŸ€” Matt LaFleur and Ben Johnson being friends doesn't mean they're gonna share all their secrets before the game πŸ€‘. I mean, it's not like they're playing in a league where you can just call up your buddy and be like "Hey, we got 5 touchdowns this week, wanna borrow some ideas?" πŸ˜‚

But seriously, 63% of NFL teams have an assistant coach with a degree from a Power Five conference πŸ“š. That's a stat I've been keeping track of for years! And did you know that the average NFL team spends around 40 hours per week on game prep? πŸ’Ό That's like, a whole lotta film study and practice sessions.

I'm also wondering, have we really seen a decrease in penalties this season? πŸ€” According to data from Next Gen Stats, there was a 3.5% drop in penalties compared to last year. Not bad, but I think we need more accurate tracking of these stats, you know? πŸ“Š

I don't get why coaches would be worried about sharing info about their team's strategy πŸ€”. Like, isn't that what they're paid for? πŸ˜… To prepare and come up with a plan to beat the other team? 🏈 I mean, if one coach is gonna share info, the other should just expect it anyway πŸ’¬. It's not like they can stop sharing or anything πŸ™ƒ. And I think coaches like Matt LaFleur are right in saying that he and Sean McVay are close friends, so maybe that's already an advantage for the Rams 😊. But still, I'm curious to see how this game goes down ⏰. Will the Bears be able to contain the Rams' offense? 🀞

I'm not surprised Ben Johnson isn't worried about info sharing with Matt LaFleur πŸ€”. It's all part of the game now - everyone knows it's gonna happen anyway πŸ’‘. And honestly, I think that's a good thing? We're already seeing so much data and analytics being used in the NFL, it's only natural that coaches are gonna talk shop to some extent. Plus, with McVay's brother Mike on the coaching staff, it's not like they'd be sharing any super secretive plays πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. Still, you gotta respect Johnson's approach - he's all about preparing his team for whatever comes their way πŸ’ͺ.

I'm low-key concerned that Ben Johnson is being too chill about info sharing πŸ€”... I mean, don't get me wrong, he's right that it happens anyway, but you gotta be smart about who knows what and when 😏. LaFleur might not have shared anything super secret with McVay, but still, you never know how much of an impact a little info could have on the game βš–οΈ. The Bears are gonna need to bring their A-game if they wanna take down the high-powered Rams offense πŸ’ͺ... and I'm guessing that's exactly what they're planning to do πŸ“

omg i think ben johnson is super smart here πŸ€“ he knows that trying to stop info sharing wont even work lol so instead of worrying about it he just focuses on his own team's prep game on πŸ’ͺ and thats what matters most Sunday match ups can get pretty intense but with a clear plan and confidence the bears should be able to give it their all πŸ’₯

I'm surprised Ben Johnson isn't more worried about info sharing between him and Matt LaFleur, considering they used to work together. It seems like a no-brainer that some level of coordination would happen, especially since Sean McVay is their GM too πŸ€”. But hey, I guess the pragmatist in him wants to play it cool, saying "it happens anyway" πŸ™„. Either way, this matchup is shaping up to be an interesting one, and I'm curious to see how LaFleur's experience as Packers head coach will translate to LA πŸ‘€. One thing's for sure, the Rams' high-powered offense is going to give the Bears a run for their money πŸ’ͺ...

OMG u guyz lol I cant even imagine Sean McVay & Matt LaFleur sharing info on the Rams' game plan but like Ben Johnson is all good about it btw I got nothin but a love for the Bears this wkend cant wait 4 them 2 go up against the Rams LaFleur's gonna bring some fire, but I think the Bears R preppin 4 d challenge 🀯🏈πŸ’ͺ

I'm a bit concerned about this info sharing between coaches. I mean, it's like, if they do share some strategy, it could give their opponents an edge πŸ€”. But at the same time, I get why coaches wanna chat up and catch up with friends before a big game 😊. It's just that I think we need to make sure both teams are on the same page... or should I say, same playbook πŸ˜‰?

πŸ€” so like I was watching this game last season and I'm thinking ben johnson is being super chill about matt lafleur and sean mcvay sharing info... it makes sense though? every team does that right? πŸ™ƒ they're just trying to get a head start on their next opponent. but at the same time, you gotta wonder if there's gonna be some last minute tweaks or something because you never know how teams are gonna adapt mid-game πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

anyway, it's not like ben johnson is worried about the Rams' high powered offense... he knows his team has been working on that all week πŸ’ͺ and that's what matters most. preparation is key in this league. 🏈
