Australia Women's Cricket World Cup players 'touched inappropriately' in India

Australian women cricketers subjected to unwanted advances while on Indian tour, police say.

Two players from Australia's women cricket team were allegedly touched inappropriately by a motorcyclist in Indore, the police revealed. The incident occurred when the players were walking from their hotel to a cafe, prompting security officers to file a complaint with the authorities. A man has been arrested and charged under sections of Indian law dealing with assault and stalking.

Police say they are reviewing the team's security protocols to ensure such incidents do not occur again. Cricket Australia has confirmed that two members of the team were approached by a motorcyclist while in Indore, but said no further details would be released.

The players have been offered support and will continue playing in the tournament. The International Cricket Council has not commented on the incident so far. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia described it as a "deeply regrettable" and "isolated" incident, praising the police for taking swift action to apprehend the suspect.

The development broke during Australia's final round match, where they secured a spot in the semi-finals after thrashing South Africa. The Australian team has been spending time in Indore throughout their tour, including a thrilling seven-wicket victory over England earlier in the day.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ’” just saw this and it makes me so mad... I mean, who does that to women? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ on the other hand, it's good to see the BCCI taking swift action and Cricket Australia offering support to the players ๐Ÿ’ช. But seriously, how many times do we have to hear about women being objectified or harassed in public places? It's just not right ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ. And what's with the lack of response from the ICC yet? ๐Ÿค” at least the police are reviewing security protocols, so hopefully this incident won't happen again ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ. The players should be able to play cricket without being distracted by some psycho motorcyclist ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ... it's just basic human decency ๐Ÿค—.

๐Ÿ˜• I'm so glad the police took swift action on this incident...it's absolutely unacceptable that these women cricketers had to go through something like this while they were just trying to grab a coffee ๐Ÿคฏ. It's not right that they felt uncomfortable and scared because of someone's reckless behavior. ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ I'm all for the BCCI secretary being honest about it being an isolated incident, but at the same time, what kind of culture are we building if this happens in India? ๐Ÿค” We need to make sure our security protocols are on point and that everyone feels safe, regardless of who they are or where they're from. The players should not have to worry about their safety while competing...it's just not fair ๐Ÿ’•. I'm glad the team is still playing and that they've been offered support...they deserve it after going through this ๐Ÿ˜Š.

๐Ÿค• This is so sad! ๐ŸŒช๏ธ A motorcyclist thought it was okay to touch these women cricketers without their consent? ๐Ÿšซ I mean, what's wrong with some guys today? ๐Ÿ˜ก Women deserve respect and personal space just like anyone else.

I'm glad the police are reviewing security protocols to prevent such incidents in the future. It's not just about the players' safety, but also about setting a good example for the younger generation. ๐Ÿค“ Cricket is supposed to be a game of sportsmanship and fair play, not harassment!

It's great that the team members have been offered support and will continue playing. I hope they can focus on their games without any distractions or anxiety. ๐Ÿ’ช And kudos to the Indian police for taking swift action against the suspect. Justice should be served! ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ

๐Ÿค” this is just too convenient... one motorcyclist and his bike, what are the chances? ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ I'm not saying it wasn't an accident or whatever, but have you seen how quickly they swooped in to 'help' those players? ๐Ÿ’จ it's like something was set up. And now the police are all over it, reviewing security protocols... sounds like a cover-up to me ๐Ÿค Cricket Australia just happens to release a statement saying nothing more and no less? ๐Ÿ‘€ doesn't add up. The players get 'supported' but still have to deal with this? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Something's fishy here...

Ugh, I'm so glad someone finally reported this weirdo! ๐Ÿ˜’ I mean, who does that to women on the street? And what's with security just standing around while it happens? Shouldn't they have been keeping a closer eye? ๐Ÿค” Anyway, kudos to the police for taking action and stuff. But you'd think Cricket Australia would've already figured out how to keep their players safe. They've gotta get on top of that ASAP! ๐Ÿ’ช

What's going on with these cricket tours and player safety? ๐Ÿค• Can't a girl even walk to a cafe without being harassed? ๐Ÿšซ India needs to step up security for these teams ASAP! ๐Ÿ’ช

This is just so wrong ๐Ÿคฏ on all levels... I mean, what kind of guy does that to some Aussie women cricketers? Just thinking about it makes my blood boil ๐Ÿ”ฅ. First of all, can't these guys respect someone's personal space? And secondly, what's with the motorcyclist thinking he can just swoop in and do whatever he wants? It's like he thought they were just props for his own twisted game ๐Ÿคช.

And to think this happened right under the noses of BCCI officials... seriously, Devajit Saikia, you're describing it as "isolated" but I'm not buying it ๐Ÿ˜’. This kind of behavior needs to be taken very seriously and dealt with swiftly.

The fact that two players were subjected to this is just sad ๐Ÿ’”, and the support they've received from Cricket Australia and others is great, but we need to make sure these kinds of incidents don't happen again ๐Ÿšซ. We need to create a culture where women feel safe and respected on and off the field ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿค• This is totally unacceptable, you know? I mean, those girls are there to play cricket and have some fun, not to be harassed or treated like that ๐Ÿšซ. It's crazy that it even happened on the team's hotel to cafe walk, where they're basically surrounded by security anyway ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

The thing is, I'm so glad the police took swift action and arrested the guy, but at the same time, this is a big deal for Australia's women cricket team ๐Ÿ†. They should be able to travel without being treated like that, especially in another country where they might feel more vulnerable ๐Ÿ˜ฌ.

It's also weird that the BCCI secretary just brushed it off as "isolated" and "deeply regrettable", but I guess that's just part of being on the road, right? ๐Ÿ™ƒ Anyway, gotta give props to the security officers who looked out for those players ๐Ÿ‘.

This is so frustrating! ๐Ÿคฌ I mean, what's wrong with some people? Women cricketers just trying to enjoy their game and have a good time while on tour, but they're subjected to unwanted advances like this? It's disgusting! ๐Ÿ˜ท And that the police had to file a complaint because someone felt comfortable enough to do something so invasive... ๐Ÿ˜ก Thankfully, the players are okay and getting support, and the authorities are taking it seriously. But let's hope we can get some real change in our society where respect is the norm, not harassment or assault! ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿค• just heard about what happened to those Aussie cricketers on their Indian tour and it's absolutely appalling ๐Ÿ˜ก. Can't believe they had to go through that kind of harassment on foreign soil. It's so important for teams to feel safe when they're representing their country, especially in a competitive environment like cricket. Glad the police were able to catch the guy who did this, but seriously, how many women have to go through this? ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ

The fact that it happened just as they were about to play another match is crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. I can only imagine how stressful and anxious those players must be feeling right now. Hope they're getting the support they need and that Cricket Australia is taking steps to make sure something like this never happens again ๐Ÿ’ฏ.

๐Ÿค” this is like, so not just an isolated incident... i mean, think about it - two players on the same team being harassed by one guy, and no one else around? what if it was an inside job? or a setup to distract the team while something more sinister happens? ๐Ÿšจ also, why did they have to review their security protocols NOW, right after this incident happened? that's just too convenient... ๐Ÿค‘ and what about the fact that Cricket Australia isn't releasing any more details? maybe they're hiding something? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Ugh ๐Ÿ˜ฉ this is so not cool ๐Ÿ™„ those Aussie cricketers on Indian tour gotta go through that crap ๐Ÿ’” hope the player who got accused is doing okay and gets justice soon โฐ can't believe some dude thought it was a good idea to ride by them, touch 'em up like that ๐Ÿšจ what's next?! gonna have to review security protocols for sure ๐Ÿค Cricket Australia should be on top of this too ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ

๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ can you believe this is still happening in 2025? I mean, I'm glad the police did what they did and charged the guy, but two of those amazing Aussie women cricketers had to go through that? It's just not right ๐Ÿšซ. And to think they're already dealing with all the pressure and stress of a big tournament... ๐Ÿคฏ. The BCCI is right though, it was an isolated incident, but still... ๐Ÿ˜’. I hope these players can just focus on their game now without any distractions. Cricket's all about sportsmanship and respect, and that's exactly what's missing here ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’”.

๐Ÿ˜• this is just so not cool that these Aussie cricketers had to deal with unwanted advances on their Indian tour... like, who does that? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ i mean, cricket's supposed to be about sportsmanship and respect for each other, not objectifying people. gotta give props to the police for taking swift action tho ๐Ÿ’ช, and kudos to Cricket Australia for offering support to the players. but it's just so frustrating that this kinda thing happens & no one's ever really held accountable ๐Ÿคฏ... anyway, let's hope more serious steps are taken to prevent this kind of thing from happening in future tours ๐Ÿ‘

Ugh, this is just so frustrating ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, I'm glad the police stepped in and arrested the guy, but two Aussie players had to go through that? It's not okay, you know? And now they're reviewing security protocols... like, what was going on before that?! Were they even being protected? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ It's just so unfair. And can you believe the guy thought he could just motorbike up and start touching people inappropriately? ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ก Has no regard for personal space at all. I hope the players are okay, but it's just really sad that this had to happen on their tour. ๐Ÿค•

can't believe what's going on with these cricketers ๐Ÿ˜ก. first they're playing cricket, then they gotta deal with this kinda stuff? i mean, india can be pretty chill and welcoming, but apparently that's not always the case for our Aussie girls ๐Ÿค”. seriously though, 2 players get touched inappropriately by some psycho motorcyclist and now they have to live with this drama ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ. and let's be real, if it was a guy from another country doing the same thing, we'd be talking about how 'concerned' people are ๐Ÿ™„. but when it comes to women, suddenly everyone becomes all sanctimonious and concerned ๐Ÿ˜’. just saying.

.. another story about women being harassed on tour and it's always some weirdo on a motorbike ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜’ like what's so hard to respect people's personal space? can't even walk down the street without being touched or catcalled, gotta make sure they're "safe" with extra security ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšซ this is just another case of men not knowing their boundaries, and girls are still expected to be polite & ignore it ๐Ÿ™„ like, nope, I'm good, leave me alone ๐Ÿšซ
