ATP Finals: Doubles glory for Britain's Henry Patten as title follows Turin engagement

Britain's Henry Patten wins his first ATP Finals doubles title, partnering with Harri Heliovaara. They beat Joe Salisbury and Neal Skupski 7-5, 6-3 in the final to take home a prize of around £660,000.

Patten's victory marks the culmination of a successful season that began without him prioritising his engagement plans. The Brit's fiancée Ellie was by his side as he proposed to her last Sunday while they were on holiday together in Turin.

The year has also seen Patten and Heliovaara adding an Australian Open title to their 2024 Wimbledon victory, a dominant display that showcased the duo's partnership.

After the match, Patten praised his beaten opponents before giving credit to Ellie, saying he couldn't have achieved his dream without her support.

🤔 I'm not buying into this "champion" narrative just because he won a big tennis tournament. Like, what about all the other guys out there who are also killing it on the court? We never hear about them. It's always about the ones who get the spotlight. 📺 And can we talk about how his fiancée is basically running the show here? I mean, she was the one getting all the attention when he proposed last week 😂. What about his actual tennis skills? Did he really earn that £660k or did someone just hand it to him? 💸

man this guy pattens win is so inspiring! he kept his relationship on track with his fiancée while crushing it on the court 🤩 and that's what we should all be striving for - finding balance in life and pursuing our passions 💪 I'm not surprised tho, pattens been playing some solid tennis lately 🎾. gotta love how humble he is too, giving credit to ellie for being his rock 👫💕 the prize money's nice but it's the win that matters most 🏆

🏸💕 I'm so happy for Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara after winning their first ATP Finals doubles title! It's amazing how having a supportive partner like Ellie can make all the difference in achieving one's goals 🤩. I love that they were able to balance their tennis career with personal life and even got engaged on holiday - sounds like a match made in heaven 💗! Their partnership both on and off the court is truly inspiring, and I'm sure we'll see more of them in future tournaments 👏!

🤔 I'm not buying it... £660,000 for a doubles title? That sounds like an astronomical prize money to me 🤑. I'd love to see where that number comes from and how it compares to the rest of the tennis world's prize money. It just seems too rich for a doubles title... 💸

omg what's with all these ppl makin headlines for gettin engaged on holidays lol, like, can't even play tennis no more? patten & ellie are goalins, tho 🤳♂️💕, but seriously, 660k for d doubles title, that's insane! and i gotta say, it's nice to see a happy couple celebratin' life's milestones. felicitashuns to patton & ellie 🎉

🎉 just read about Henry Patten winning his first ATP Finals doubles title and I gotta say I'm super happy for him! 😊 He's come a long way from being unsure about prioritizing his engagement plans with Ellie. It's amazing how having someone who believes in you can give you the push to chase your dreams. And speaking of Ellie, yay for her too - proposing on holiday is like something out of a rom-com 🌟. Patten and Heliovaara are an awesome team, I'm loving their partnership wins! 💪

🏆 I'm so overjoyed for Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara! They're literally the ultimate doubles team 🤝💪. It's amazing how they can read each other's game so well, it's like they're connected on a higher level 😊. And to think that Patten just got engaged over the holidays, talk about finding love and success at the same time ❤️! His fiancée Ellie seems like an amazing partner in crime 🤗. The way he gave her credit for his win is so sweet, it's clear they're meant to be 💕. And £660,000 is no joke, I hope they enjoy every penny of that prize money 💸.

Just saw the pic of Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara holding that trophy 🏆💥 they make a sick team! It's awesome how Patten prioritized his engagement plans with Ellie this year, it must've been tough balancing tennis with wedding prep 🤵📅. Ellie seems like an amazing fiancée too, supporting her guy till the end. And wow, that final score of 7-5, 6-3 is insane 🤯! Can't wait to see what they do next season, maybe a wedding to look forward to as well?

omg u guys can we talk about henry pattens latest win 🎉🏸?? i'm literally screaming with excitement!! he and harri heliovaara are literally the best doubles team ever!!! their partnership is so sick 🤯👫 plus, ellie was by his side celebrating her engagement on holiday lol love how they're making this season all about her 💕💍 what a perfect finish to an already amazing year for pattens! 660k prize money isn't bad either 😂

man this guy henry patten is on fire 🚀🎾 i mean 660k is a nice chunk of change but what's even crazier is that proposal went down during the tournament lol so like, perfect timing? couple goals 🤩 gotta give it to him and harri heliovaara too, those guys are killing it on the doubles scene.

😒 Can you believe this guy's dedication is only for when it comes to tennis? I mean, "prioritizing" his engagement plans just happened to be the best decision he ever made 🤣... meanwhile, his partner Ellie is literally by his side the whole time 💕. Like, what a unique marketing strategy - get engaged on holiday and now you're a winner 🎉. Don't think I'm jealous or anything 😒.

OMG 🤩 I'm beyond happy for Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara! They're literally unstoppable as a doubles team 🌟! Their chemistry is so strong it's like they were meant to be partners in tennis and life 😂. And can we talk about Ellie, the fiancée who's been supporting her beau through thick and thin? She's literally the best 💕. I mean, proposing on holiday and now winning a major tournament together... that's what love is all about 💗! I'm curious, do you think Henry and Ellie will have their special day in 2025, given their engagement news just last week? 🎉

awww thats so sweet how ellie was there for henry all year round, no wonder he was able to shine on the court 🤩💕 he and harri make an amazing team btw, their partnership is really something special 👏🌟 hope they keep winning more titles together!

Omg can you believe it? Henry Patten just won his first ATP Finals doubles title and I'm over here thinking he must've had some serious inside help... like, from his fiancée Ellie who was there for the proposal vibes in Turin?! That's what I call a winning formula! 🤣💍 But seriously, congrats to Henry and Harri on their big win, that's so satisfying after all those hard weeks of practice. And can we talk about how adorable it is that Patten gave credit to his fiancée Ellie for being his rock? That's what love and sports are all about! 🎉💕

🎾 Just when I thought tennis was all about individual triumphs, Henry Patten has proven us wrong by showcasing what doubles tennis is truly capable of! His partnership with Harri Heliovaara has been a masterclass in coordination and communication 🤝. But what really sets this win apart is the personal context - being on holiday with his fiancée Ellie while proposing and celebrating their engagement 💕. It's clear that Ellie's unwavering support has played a significant role in Patten's success, which is just wonderful to see! The fact that he gave credit to her after winning is just another testament to the power of a supportive partner... I mean, who needs an ace when you have a partner who believes in you? 😊

🏸 Winning isn't everything, mate... I mean, sure, £660k ain't bad! But Henry Patten's story is all about balance 🤝. Prioritizing his relationship goals and not letting tennis take over his life was the smart move. If he'd kept pushing himself 24/7, he might've achieved even more, but at what cost? Family time and love are just as important as Grand Slam titles 😊. It's a refreshing change to see athletes putting their personal lives first, and I think that's something we can all learn from... life's too short, mate!

omg I just found out about this tennis tournament and I'm so confused lol what is ATP Finals? sounds like some fancy sports thingy 🤔 is it like a big competition or something? and why do they play doubles? my boyfriend plays basketball and he's always talking about singles, doubles, and triples... I don't get the differences 🤷‍♀️

and omg congratulations to Henry Patten and Harri Heliovaara! they seem so cute 💕 I love how Patten proposed to his fiancée Ellie on holiday, that's so romantic 💗 I hope she said yes!! 💍

Ugh, what's the point of tennis when your wedding plans can ruin your season? Poor guy was so caught up in planning a proposal that he even had to sacrifice his training time lol 😂💸. And now his fiancée is just going to be his plus one for all his future matches? Guess that's just part of being a pro athlete 🤦‍♂️.
