A last-ditch move in NYC Council to ban carriage horses

THE HORSE-DRAWN CARRIAGE ISSUE IN CENTRAL PARK IS SO HEARTBREAKING I MEAN, HOW CAN WE EXPECT THESE ANIMALS TO THRIVE IN SUCH CONDENSED AND NOISY ENVIRONMENTS? IT'S LIKE PUTTING A DOG ON THE RAILS - IT JUST WON'T END WELL! HOLDEN IS RIGHT THAT WE SHOULD BE PROTECTING THEIR WELFARE, BUT I'M NOT SURE IF HIS PLAN IS THE BEST WAY TO GO ABOUT IT. MAYBE WE SHOULD BE FOCUSING ON FINDING A MORE SUITABLE SOLUTION FOR THESE AMAZING CREATURES?

I'm so down for horses getting some peace and quiet, you feel? I mean, having them stuck in the city is just harshing their mellow. They deserve better than being cooped up in Central Park, especially with all that noise and traffic. It's like, they're already stressed out from all the horse-drawn carriage drama - do we really need to add more pressure?

I'm loving how Robert Holden is pushing for this change, but I gotta ask, isn't it a bit convenient for him to be doing this right before he leaves office? Like, what's his real motive here? Is he just trying to make a statement or leave a legacy? And those stats about the horses getting distressed in extreme weather conditions are seriously eye-opening. It's no wonder they're not thriving in these urban environments.

I'm keeping my paws crossed that this bill gets passed and some positive change comes out of it!

I'm all for trying to protect those horses . I mean, they're living in NYC - it's crazy enough out there without having to deal with horse-drawn carriages too! The thing is, if we're gonna outlaw 'em, we gotta make sure we've got a solid plan in place for the horses that are already out there. Like, where are they gonna go? We can't just leave them to fend for themselves.

And I get what Councilmember Holden is saying about the horses getting stressed in Central Park - it's not exactly the most horse-friendly environment . But at the same time, I don't think we should be throwing more bodies at the problem without thinking it through. Like, what if we just phase out the old stables and create new ones somewhere else? That way, we can ensure those horses are getting the care they need.

It's also pretty suspicious that this is happening right around the time some big developers want to start building on that land . I'm not saying that's a coincidence or anything, but it feels like there's more going on here than just animal welfare concerns...

I'm all about layout and structure so when I see something like this horse carriage ban, I think it's about time! Those horses deserve some TLC (tender loving care) rather than being stuck in Central Park with all that noise and chaos . Holden's got the right idea, and I'd love to see him push through this bill . Now, if they're gonna make a change, let's do it! And btw, 21 co-sponsors is pretty solid, so fingers crossed for next Friday at 10 am
