'A Christmas Story: The Musical' brings holiday nostalgia to Walnut Street Theatre

Walnut Street Theatre Brings Back Holiday Cheer with 'A Christmas Story: The Musical'

The classic tale of a young boy's quest for the ultimate Christmas gift is getting a musical makeover at Walnut Street Theatre. Starting November 18, audiences can catch early previews of "A Christmas Story: The Musical," which promises to bring nostalgic holiday cheer to the historic venue.

Based on the beloved 1983 film, the show follows Ralphie Parker as he navigates his way through childhood in 1940s Indiana. At the top of his wish list is a Red Ryder BB gun, a gift that will be the focal point of the production's numerous memorable moments, including the infamous leg lamp and pink bunny pajamas.

The musical promises to delight audiences with its catchy score and big group numbers, as well as daydream scenes that bring Ralphie's vivid imagination to life. The show will feature local young actors Tyler Jai Knowles and Raphael Sommer sharing the role of Ralphie, alongside a talented cast of performers who will join them on stage throughout the production.

To make the holiday season accessible to all, Walnut Street Theatre has planned several inclusive shows, including open captioning, audio description, and ASL interpretation. The theatre will also offer a special "Kids Night" performance on December 2, which allows a child to attend for free with a paid adult ticket.

Tickets are now available for the show's run, which takes place from November 18 through January 4, 2026. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit WalnutStreetTheatre.org or call 215-574-3550.

๐ŸŽ„ I'm so down for this! A Christmas Story: The Musical is like the ultimate holiday gift โ€“ nostalgic, fun, and full of quotable moments ๐Ÿคฃ. Who wouldn't want to see Ralphie's epic battle with his siblings over the Red Ryder BB gun or his hilarious attempts to convince his parents it's "the most wonderful time of the year"? ๐ŸŽ… The music is gonna be on point too โ€“ I'm imagining a festive mix of big band and country vibes, like a holiday mashup of West Side Story and The Polar Express ๐Ÿ””. And yay for inclusivity! Walnut Street Theatre's got the spirit, offering open captioning, audio description, and ASL interpretation for all to enjoy ๐ŸŽ‰. Can't wait to snag my tix and get this festive party started ๐ŸŽŠ

๐ŸŽ„ just saw this news about the new musical at walnut street theatre & i'm kinda stoked... they're bringing back all the nostalgia with 'a christmas story: the musical' ๐ŸŽ…๏ธ i mean, who doesn't love ralphie's quest for that red ryder bb gun? ๐ŸŽฏ and it sounds like the show is going to be super fun with catchy tunes & big group numbers ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•บ๏ธ plus they're doing inclusive shows so everyone can enjoy the holiday spirit ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŽ„ Think about it, this musical is all about embracing your inner child and finding joy in the simple things like getting a new BB gun or wearing those crazy pink PJs on Christmas morning ๐Ÿคฃ It's a reminder to not grow up too fast and remember what makes life special. And let's be real, who hasn't fantasized about having the ultimate gift? It's all about perspective, right? For some it might be that fancy BB gun, for others it could be something entirely different. The point is, it's the thought and love behind the gift that counts ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ’•

omg i'm so down for this! a christmas story musical sounds like the perfect thing to get me in the holiday spirit ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ…๏ธ i love how walnut street theatre is making an effort to make it accessible to everyone, open captioning and all that jazz is really cool. and let's be real, who wouldn't want to see a kid running around with a red ryder bb gun on stage? i'm definitely getting my tickets ASAP ๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘

๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ‘ gotta love musicals this time of year... they always bring out the kid in me... wonder if they'll make that leg lamp shine ๐Ÿ’ก on stage tho, that's just a whole different level of nostalgic ๐Ÿคฃ

๐Ÿค” I'm telling you, this is all about brainwashing the masses! They're putting on a 'musical' version of "A Christmas Story" just so they can control what we think about Christmas. It's all about the Red Ryder BB gun - they want us to obsess over that gift, not realizing it's just a ploy for big corporations to sell more guns and stuff. And don't even get me started on the "inclusive shows". That's just code for "we need to make sure everyone feels comfortable so we can keep them coming back". Wake up, people! We're living in a Disney-fied world where anything goes as long as it makes us feel good... or distracted from the real issues. ๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿšซ

Ugh I cant believe how outdated this is lol they're putting a musical on an old movie it just feels so forced... like what's next the musical version of Home Alone? ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ But at the same time its probably gonna be really fun and nostalgic for all the old folks out there, i guess. And yay for inclusive shows! That's awesome that they're offering open captioning and ASL interpretation, thats super cool ๐Ÿ‘

I'm so over the new holiday shows at theaters every year ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, how many times can we relive the same sappy story of a kid's Christmas wish? "A Christmas Story: The Musical" sounds like just another cheesy production trying to cash in on the festive season... And don't even get me started on the leg lamp, seriously who thought that was a good idea for a musical number ๐Ÿ˜‚. On the bright side, I hope they do decent open captioning and ASL interpretation for the inclusive shows, that's always a plus โš–๏ธ. The Kids Night performance is also a nice touch, but it feels like they're just trying to appeal to parents who want to get their kids into theater ๐Ÿคช. Can't we have something more original for a change? ๐ŸŽญ

Ugh, I'm so down for this!!! ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽถ Can't wait to see that musical bring back all the feels of when I was a kid! The idea of Ralphie's leg lamp and pink bunny pajamas on stage is giving me major nostalgia vibes ๐Ÿ˜‚. And yay for inclusive shows! It's great that Walnut Street Theatre is making an effort to make the holiday season accessible to everyone, especially those with disabilities ๐Ÿ‘. I'm definitely getting tickets for "Kids Night" - it's a wonderful way to spend quality time with my little ones ๐ŸŽ…. The musical seems like it's going to be so much fun! Can't wait to see it on November 18th! ๐Ÿ˜†

๐ŸŽ„ just had an epiphany... this musical is not just about a kid's quest for the ultimate Christmas gift, it's also about nostalgia! I mean, who hasn't grown up watching that classic movie and wondering what it'd be like to experience the magic of 1940s Indiana on stage? ๐Ÿคฉ The fact that they're incorporating daydream scenes and making it inclusive with open captioning, audio description, and ASL interpretation is genius! It's all about spreading holiday cheer to everyone, regardless of ability. And I love that they're offering a "Kids Night" performance - it's a great way to make the experience accessible to families. Can't wait to see it! ๐ŸŽถ

omg can u believe it?? ๐Ÿคฉ A Christmas Story: The Musical is coming back to Walnut Street Theatre!! ๐ŸŽจ I'm low-key obsessed with Ralphie's story already! ๐Ÿ‘€ Did u know that the musical has been performed over 4,000 times since its premiere in 2006? ๐Ÿ“Š It's gonna be so cool to see it live on stage!!! ๐Ÿ’ฅ And btw, I heard the show is inspired by a real-life childhood experience of one of the creators? ๐Ÿค” anywayz, they're offering inclusive shows for everyone to enjoy! ๐ŸŽ‰ open captioning, audio description, and ASL interpretation are all part of the plan. That's so awesome! ๐Ÿ™Œ And, I saw that local young actors Tyler Jai Knowles and Raphael Sommer will be sharing the role of Ralphie? ๐Ÿคฉ I'm rooting for 'em already! ๐Ÿ˜Š

omg i just saw a clip of 'a christmas story' musical on youtube and i'm HOOKED ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽ„ the set design is insane! like, it's literally bringing the 40s to life with all those vintage props and costumes ๐Ÿ˜ i can already imagine how epic the leg lamp scene must be... and the fact that they're doing inclusive shows? that's just the icing on the cake โค๏ธ i'm def getting tickets for my younger cousins' birthday bashes, this is gonna be a holiday tradition! ๐ŸŽ‰

๐ŸŽ„ I'm so down for a musical adaptation of A Christmas Story! ๐ŸŽถ It's like, the ultimate holiday feel-good movie, you know? And bringing it back with a live show is just genius. I mean, who doesn't love Ralphie's quest for that Red Ryder BB gun? ๐Ÿคฃ The theatre's inclusive shows are also super thoughtful โ€“ I wish more events would offer those extras. It's all about making the holiday season special for everyone, especially those who might need it a bit extra. And yay for local young actors getting to shine! ๐ŸŽญ

idk if i'm excited about this musical thingy ๐Ÿค” but at the same time, a show about a kid getting a bb gun for christmas is kinda lit ๐Ÿ’ฅ i mean who wouldn't want a red ryder bb gun? it's like, the ultimate holiday present ๐ŸŽ and the fact that they're doing it live on stage with music and all sounds like it could be super fun ๐ŸŽต but then again, what if it's too cheesy for some people? i dunno ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

OMG ๐Ÿคฉ I'm so stoked that Walnut Street Theatre is bringing back the holiday spirit with "A Christmas Story: The Musical"! I mean, who doesn't love Ralphie's quest for that Red Ryder BB gun? It's like, the ultimate nostalgic gift ๐ŸŽ. And can we talk about the leg lamp though? Iconic ๐Ÿ”ฅ! I'm a huge fan of musicals and this one is gonna be so much fun! Plus, it's awesome that they're making the show accessible to everyone with open captioning, audio description, and ASL interpretation ๐Ÿ‘. My fave part is gonna be the "Kids Night" performance where a kid gets in for free with a paid adult ticket ๐ŸŽ‰. I'm def getting tix for my little ones...this is gonna be an unforgettable holiday season!
