Walnut Street Theatre Brings Back Holiday Cheer with 'A Christmas Story: The Musical'
The classic tale of a young boy's quest for the ultimate Christmas gift is getting a musical makeover at Walnut Street Theatre. Starting November 18, audiences can catch early previews of "A Christmas Story: The Musical," which promises to bring nostalgic holiday cheer to the historic venue.
Based on the beloved 1983 film, the show follows Ralphie Parker as he navigates his way through childhood in 1940s Indiana. At the top of his wish list is a Red Ryder BB gun, a gift that will be the focal point of the production's numerous memorable moments, including the infamous leg lamp and pink bunny pajamas.
The musical promises to delight audiences with its catchy score and big group numbers, as well as daydream scenes that bring Ralphie's vivid imagination to life. The show will feature local young actors Tyler Jai Knowles and Raphael Sommer sharing the role of Ralphie, alongside a talented cast of performers who will join them on stage throughout the production.
To make the holiday season accessible to all, Walnut Street Theatre has planned several inclusive shows, including open captioning, audio description, and ASL interpretation. The theatre will also offer a special "Kids Night" performance on December 2, which allows a child to attend for free with a paid adult ticket.

! A Christmas Story: The Musical sounds like a total blast from the past - I loved that movie as a kid, who wouldn't want to see it brought to life on stage with catchy tunes and over-the-top performances?

I'm telling you, this is all about brainwashing the masses! They're putting on a 'musical' version of "A Christmas Story" just so they can control what we think about Christmas. It's all about the Red Ryder BB gun - they want us to obsess over that gift, not realizing it's just a ploy for big corporations to sell more guns and stuff. And don't even get me started on the "inclusive shows". That's just code for "we need to make sure everyone feels comfortable so we can keep them coming back". Wake up, people! We're living in a Disney-fied world where anything goes as long as it makes us feel good... or distracted from the real issues. 
But at the same time its probably gonna be really fun and nostalgic for all the old folks out there, i guess. And yay for inclusive shows! That's awesome that they're offering open captioning and ASL interpretation, thats super cool 
. I mean, how many times can we relive the same sappy story of a kid's Christmas wish? "A Christmas Story: The Musical" sounds like just another cheesy production trying to cash in on the festive season... And don't even get me started on the leg lamp, seriously who thought that was a good idea for a musical number
