2/5: The Takeout with Major Garrett

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole thing... I mean, Trump thinks it's easy to compare politicians across eras but he's really not giving any concrete examples, right? 🤔 Like, what specific accomplishments does his admin have that make him feel all confident about it? And isn't it kinda weird that he's talking about how the media covers politicians like they're some kind of celebrities or something? I mean, I get why he'd be frustrated but can't he just admit that maybe the media isn't always being super fair to him and his admin? 📰

And can we talk about Harry Reid for a sec? I'm so down to read this memoir when it comes out - I wanna know more about what it was like being a senator, especially back in the 80s. I feel like politicians have really changed over time, but at the same time, people's expectations from them are still pretty high. 📚

I think it's unfair to judge Trump's admin just cuz some ppl don't like 'im 😐. He's makin progress on immigration and tax reform, which is somethin most presidents can't say 🙌. And let's be real, his economic growth isn't half bad either 💸. I know some ppl might say it's all about the polarized media, but I think Trump's right that we should focus on what our leaders do, not just what they're accused of doing 😊. Reid was a complex guy who switched parties and found his voice as an indie Democrat - maybe we can learn from him 🤔.

I'm not buying it 🙄. Trump's always been great at spinning his own accomplishments and making them sound super impressive. Like, who doesn't love tax cuts? But let's be real, those benefits mostly went to corporations and the wealthy, not everyday people 💸. And don't even get me started on immigration reform – that one's still a total mess 🤦‍♀️.

And can we talk about how Trump's always trying to frame himself as some kind of martyr? "Oh, nobody else is portraying politicians accurately"... nope, just another way to deflect from your own questionable actions 😒. I mean, if you're really so confident in your admin's achievements, why all the secrecy and obstruction around certain policies? Just seems like more drama and spin to me 📺.

Also, can we talk about how Reid's legacy is being used here? His book might be interesting, but let's not forget that it's being published years after he passed away. How much of his actual thought process is being represented in this memoir? We'll have to wait and see ⏰.
