11 Executives Steering Warner Bros. Discovery’s Crown Jewel Media Assets

As Warner Bros. Discovery prepares to break itself into two entities, its most valuable businesses are being run by key executives who will play crucial roles in shaping the future of the entertainment giant. The division will see Warner Bros. retaining the studios and streaming operations, while a new entity, Discovery Global, will hold the networks' business.

At the helm of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group are Mike De Luca and Pamela Abdy, co-chairs and co-CEOs. They oversee global theatrical production, marketing, and distribution for the studio, including feature films produced under Warner Bros. Pictures, New Line Cinema, and Warner Bros. Animation. De Luca is a former chairman of MGM's motion-picture group, while Abdy served as president of MGM's motion-picture group.

James Gunn and Peter Safran are co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studios. Gunn brings his expertise in creating blockbuster films like The Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy, while Safran has experience producing successful franchises such as Aquaman and The Conjuring universe.

Channing Dungey is chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. TV Group, overseeing all animation, live-action scripted, and unscripted television operations for WBD. She was named to this role in 2021 and expanded her remit to include WBD's US networks in 2024.

Casey Bloys chairs and leads HBO and HBO Max as chairman and CEO. He has been instrumental in producing high-profile content like Euphoria, The White Lotus, and The Last of Us.

JB Perrette is the CEO and president of Streaming and Games for Warner Bros. Discovery, overseeing the technical and strategic rollout of WBD's streaming platforms and gaming initiatives.

Gerhard Zeiler leads WBD International, steering the company's global brands and direct-to-consumer strategy across more than 220 markets.

Luis Silberwasser chairs and CEO of TNT Sports, managing one of the most valuable sports-rights portfolios in the US. He previously oversaw television networks at TelevisaUnivision and NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises.

Mark Thompson is chairman and CEO of CNN Worldwide, overseeing all CNN content and operations around the world under WBD's banner. Thompson brings decades of experience from his previous roles as BBC director-general and New York Times CEO.

Kasia Kieli serves as president and managing director for Warner Bros. Discovery in Poland and as CEO of TVN, one of Poland's largest media companies. She oversees WBD's international strategy, guiding its Polish portfolio through a shifting media and regulatory landscape.

lol these top executives are gonna make or break the future of Warner Bros. Discovery 🤯 De Luca & Abdy are low-key geniuses, btw - I mean, they're basically rebuilding the company from scratch 💪. Gunn & Safran are on fire, tho, bringing that DC magic 🔥. And Dungey's been quietly building a powerhouse TV empire, no one knows how she does it 🤫. Bloys is my man for HBO, Euphoria is a masterpiece 📺. Silberwasser's got the sports game on lock, TNT Sports is fire 💪. Thompson's leadership at CNN is gonna be HUGE 📰, and Kieli's all over that international strategy 🔍 - I'm hyped to see how it all shakes out in 2025 💥

The new division thingy is going to be super interesting 🤔 I mean, imagine having all these iconic studios and networks under two separate entities - it's like a reboot for Warner Bros. Discovery 💥 But what really caught my attention is the fact that the most valuable businesses are being run by key executives who have been instrumental in shaping the future of the entertainment giant.

Take Mike De Luca and Pamela Abdy, for instance, they're basically running the show at Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group 🎬 What's impressive is that both have a deep understanding of the film industry, having worked with MGM in the past. And then there's James Gunn and Peter Safran, who are co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studios 💥 - they're bringing their expertise from blockbuster films like The Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy to shape the future of the D.C. universe.

It's also worth noting that Channing Dungey is leading Warner Bros. TV Group, overseeing all animation, live-action scripted, and unscripted television operations for WBD 📺 She was named chairman and CEO in 2021 and expanded her remit to include WBD's US networks in 2024.

The fact that Casey Bloys chairs and leads HBO and HBO Max as chairman and CEO is also a big deal 🎥 He's been instrumental in producing high-profile content like Euphoria, The White Lotus, and The Last of Us. And let's not forget JB Perrette, who's overseeing the technical and strategic rollout of WBD's streaming platforms and gaming initiatives 💻

The division is definitely going to have its pros and cons, but one thing's for sure - it's an exciting time for Warner Bros. Discovery 🤓

I'm low-key worried about this split... I mean, who really knows what they're doing? These big cheeses at Warner Bros. are so used to being in charge that it's hard to imagine them sharing power. And let's be real, Mike De Luca and Pamela Abdy were barely saving MGM's skin when they took over Warner Bros., so what makes us think they can save the whole company now?

And don't even get me started on DC Studios with James Gunn and Peter Safran at the helm... that guy Gunn has always been a bit too "on brand" for my taste, if you know what I mean. And what's up with Warner Bros. TV Group being run by Channing Dungey? She's got a solid track record, but is she really the right person to oversee WBD's entire TV operation?

I'm all about seeing how this whole split plays out, but for now, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that none of these execs mess things up too badly...

🤦‍♂️ I mean, what's not to love about getting your favorite movie and TV shows splintered into different entities? It's like trying to watch your entire collection on Netflix but having to search for the one show you actually care about because it got moved to a new section 📺. Anyway, I'm kinda hyped that Mike De Luca and Pamela Abdy are at the helm of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group – they've already made some solid moves with The Batman and DC's new slate of films 🦇. And let's not forget James Gunn and Peter Safran, who are gonna make sure DC Studios doesn't get too out of hand (fingers crossed 😜). But seriously, it's good to see people like Casey Bloys and Channing Dungey leading the charge on their respective fronts – they've got some amazing content coming up. And because WBD isn't complete chaos just yet, I'll give them a passing grade 📚

man these execs are getting all the power what about the rest of the team? like the writers & crew members they're just background figures in this whole thing 🤑 i feel like wbd is breaking up into two giant corporations one for movies/animation and another for TV/networks its gonna be super hard to keep everything cohesive im not sure if wbd is doing themselves any favors with this split

So I'm reading about the big changes at Warner Bros. Discovery 🤯 and it seems like they're breaking themselves up into two separate entities! Like, their TV and streaming stuff is staying with one team while the networks are going to be part of this new entity called Discovery Global 💡

I think it's kinda cool that James Gunn and Peter Safran are leading DC Studios 🦸‍♂️ - they've got some big shoes to fill after The Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy did so well! And Channing Dungey is doing an amazing job with Warner Bros. TV Group 📺, from animation to live-action scripted shows.

But you know what's even crazier? They're basically getting rid of these super powerful CEOs 💥 - it's like they're giving each team their own leaders and letting them run with it! Like, Mike De Luca and Pamela Abdy are taking charge of the movie studios 🎬 while Casey Bloys is handling HBO and HBO Max 📺. It's gonna be interesting to see how all these different teams play together (or don't) 😅

😏 I'm not sure what's more surprising, the fact that they're breaking themselves into two entities or that most of these key execs are just passing the torch from one company to another 🤣 Mike De Luca and Pamela Abdy, used to run MGM's motion-picture group, now they're leading Warner Bros.'s top studios? It's like a game of musical chairs, but with more billion-dollar deals 💸. And what's up with James Gunn and Peter Safran taking over DC Studios? Can we just say it's because they've got the whole superhero thing on lock 🔥?

Wow 😮 these leaders gotta be doing something right or else why they still part of the company? 🤔 interesting that James Gunn is leading DC Studios, I guess his experience with The Suicide Squad did pay off. 🎥 also Casey Bloys seems to be killing it at HBO and Max, Euphoria was a huge hit, right? 💥

omg u know how i freak out about formatting 🤯 so when i read this article i was all over it - like who are these ppl overseeing the future of warner bros discovery? first off i gotta say channing dungey as chair of tv group is giving me LIFE 💪 she's got experience and now a bigger remit which is fire 🔥 but then i saw james gunn and peter safran leading dc studios and my mind went blank 🤯 i mean i love guardians of the galaxy but how do they plan to make more blockbuster films? and what about the new streaming platforms for warner bros discovery?? jb perrette is overseeing that so fingers crossed it goes smoothly 💻 gerhard zeiler's global strategy thing sounds super interesting too - but idk if i'm ready for wbd's international portfolio 🤔
